Phazer Jetting

So far I've tried the following jets (just because they were laying around):

157.5
155
152.5
151.3

And all have yielded the same result on mid and top end range: a wet plug with very little burning, not brown nor white.. black I guess you could say.

My needles are in the middle, and float adjustment appears to be ok.

Do the air fuel screws have any affect on the mid and top end ranges?.. they are the only thing I havn't tinkered with yet.... i think they're currently out 1 3/4 turns.

The sled will not idle without a little throttle.

Any ideas?

If it won't idle you either have the idle adjustment screwed up or the pilots are plugged. The fuel screws have a tiny (like 3%) affect on top end fuel flow. You've dropped from 157's to 151's and not seen a difference? Does it run better with less fuel? If it's rich it should have started to clean up with that change in jetting.

You're going to have to just keep trying things till you get it figured out. Not too many people ran slide carbs on a phazer combared to the number that were sold. I told yo what worked in my sled. If it doesn't work for you, you'll have to find what works in your particular sled. Tuning takes time. I had days into figuring out what my sled wantedwhen I built it.

Well... looks like im making a little headway... i tried the 143.8 mains to see what would happen and it's running much better, never had a chance to run wot cause i ran out of gas. Just thought I'd let you guys know... thanks for all your help!!!
