Funny thing is, None of our polari (all 4 of them) ever did this.
Only our 1 cat (never again), and the 90 skidoo formula Plus first with the stock 521, then with the FAST ported and reworked 521, and later a mach 1 617 in it, were the only sleds that have ever died like that.
Even a yami can burn down with bad jetting, all it takes is operator/ tuner error
If ur worried on those long pulls, just flip the old choke on for a few seconds to cool her down a bit.

A buddy of mine ran down an orange F-7 a couple of years ago with his 540 Vmax powered 78SRX. The F-7 was racing a Doo when they were coming by and old Donny nailed his old rat down to see how it would do. He merged up with them at speed and about 100ft back of the Doo. The Doo didn't last long and he cought the Cat down buy the narrows (about 2500ft south of where he started). The kid on the F-7 wasn't to happy to see a 55 year old hippy wearing a long stocking hat with the dingy ball on the end pull up on a ratty looking old 78 SRX. Donny said the look on his face was priceless.
I've never drag raced one but we get to run them quite a bit out on the river with our Vmax-4's and RX1's. They arn't any problem there.

You would get a kick out of Donny "The DUDE" as I call him. He's quite a character. At last count he had 10 sleds in the stable. 5 Yammies and 5 Polies. He got on the Polaris kick a few years back after he picked up a matched pair of 78 RXL racers out of Indiana for $1400. They were raced down there for 2 years and put in the garage until Donny bought them. 1 even has the 79 mod kit on it. Since getting those done he has done a TXL, Centurian and just finnished a mod Polie drag sled with an RXL 340 mod engine. (see pic) He's a Yamaha man and has had a ton of them over the years. He still has his 76, 77 and 78 (540 rat) SRX's but his main rides are a 92 Vmax4 and 03 RX1. He's a river runnin guru and the Vmax is one of the fastest sleds out there. He's a tuner like you and sends a lot of guys with their big hot rods back to the trailer pissed that they just got beat by an "old guy" on an "old sled" with twin pipes that only has 96 studs in it.

HEY PHIL COOL STORIE. AWSOME SEEING THOSE OLD BOYS THAT CAN REALLY MAKE A SLED GO. THAT 76 SRX IS BEAUTIFUL IN THE BACK GROUND. STILL HASHING ON THE GRASS. BEEN PLAYING WITH MY 2000 SRX. MY 95 800 IS PRETTY MUCH DONE EXCEPT CAMO 9811 GOING IN NEXT FALL. THANKS PHIL. 3:16 ( yammie tony)
LOL, yup been there done that!! My old 89' Exciter went down like that the same day I bought it!! Turned out the previous owner had gutted the airbox and never rejetted

depending on the year the xlt's were either 580, or 600.
the early ones were 580, like 93-95 i think. at some point they all turned to be 598 ture 600's

I don't have trouble with those F-bombs. I do, however, seem to have two extra pipes on my Viper, but I don't know where they came from!
