Newbie Question on Track Slide Repair

Hi all,

I've never owned a snowmobile, but I'm looking at a 79 Enticer 300. This thing runs perfect and is in great shape....except for a couple of things. I took my father-in-law with me to look at it (he is knowledgable in snowmobiles) and he pointed out that the slide? on one side was completely gone. In addition to that, the small metal slides? on the track that are supposed to ride on the missing slide are gone on that side. It looks like the owner has been riding with the slide missing for a long time and with the metal on metal, the small metal track slides have worn off. Other than this issue, the sled is beautiful! We took it for a ride and it runs awesome too.

SO. I found where I can order the parts on the internet. But how do you repleace the metal slides on the track? Is this something I can easily do? How big of a job is this?

I really think that this would be a nice sled to own and the guy only wants a few hundred $ for it.

You need to get a track clip tool to install the new track clips. It's not really all that hard to do but it's time consuming, and kind of a pain...

Replacing that suspension rail is really easy. You just need to systematically take it apart and put it back together again. I would replace the track. Find a used one where you get the rail or buy a new one made by Kimpex. The rods where the track clips go are probably ruined. They are great sleds!

if the flange on the rail is still there for he slider plastic it will be fine. as long as you cannot see the reinforcements for the track where the clips mount it will be fine. just throw new plastic on and re-clip the whole track on that side. while you are clippping it i would check the thickness on the other side as well as they might be worn enough to need changeing.

this is all if you get the sled. they are fun little buggers.

Well, I bought it.

The track looks pretty good on the side without the clips.
I decided not to re-clip it myself though. I'm just going to take it to the local Yamaha repair shop and let them do it.

The day I brought it home though, the temperature turned 34 and it rained and all of the snow melted away.

COME ON SNOW!!!
