Fixing Gas Tank Outlet

That would be a tough one to weld and make it strong enough.
You could install a bulkhead fitting. There is one shown here:

You would not be able to get a wrench on the nut inside the tank, but if you put it in from the inside you should be able to tighten the outside nut to the proper tightness. To get it in place, feed a wire through the hole and out the filler hole. Put the fitting over the wire and let it slide down to the hole and feed it into place.
All things considered, it may be best to look for a different tank.
Or forget about the gauge and cut off the nipple and install a bolt and washers and nut in the hole with some sealer.

Get in touch with www.wahlracing.com. They've got a fitting that pushes into the tank after you drill the tank. Used in their race tanks.

Jegs or Summit racing have fuel cell AN fittings that i'm sure would work if you can get to the inside of the broken area.
I looked at the websites you guys posted, but didn't see anything that would be easily used. The AN fittings are too big, and I didn't see any that would work well on the plastic tank. The marine ones were too bulky.
Anybody have any thoughts about using the newer style push in fittings with the rubber grommet? It's basically a metal 90 with hose barbs and a rubber grommet to seal it.

Ding, the wahl bros fittings come in either a straight or a 90 degree, the part number for the straight fitting with rubber grommet for tank(3/8" only) is 06-769.
the 90 degree fitting number is -06-766, fits either 3/16 or 1/4"
you just would drill a hole where the broken fitting is and insert this rubber grommet, then the fitting presses into the grommetand makes the seal by fitting tightly expanding the rubber, the rubber also has a lip on it for the tank edge.
order line for them is 800-883-0294

I went to Wahl's site earlier based on Bluehammer's input, but didn't realize what I was seeing in the pic. (I may be old, but I am slow . . .)
They have one pic with a bunch of different items in it. It is basically the same item that Dennis Kirk, HPI , and others sell. I wonder if Wahl Bros actually make these, and the mail order houses sell their item?
Anyway, I think this is what I will go with.

Uh guys, I really shouldn't tell on myself, but why keep silent and have people think you an idiot when you can speak up and remove all doubt . . .
I was out back yesterday and saw an old parts sled with the same tank still on it and in good condition. I think maybe that is why I kept it around, so that I would have parts when needed. Boy don't I feel dumb. The best part is the fitting I already ordered to fix the original came today.
