The reason you fill a tank righ full @ storage is so condensation has no room to form..

The amount of condensation an empty tank could form in very humid weather is not enough to dilute the gas to have any trouble with. This is a very old myth. Here is a good write up on this.
Everyone posting their methods should also post if they use Top Tier gas for their last tank when storing. It has lot of detergent to prevent deposits and I'm sure can last longer. This is the only gas I use in all my car's or machines.

^ True,, but steel tanks were worse then plastic for sure..PhatboyC said:The amount of condensation an empty tank could form in very humid weather is not enough to dilute the gas to have any trouble with.

Ditto ! !
Altough it does sound as if Seafoam will also, clean the system if you did not add anything to Stabilize ?

I have seen the inside of carbs. that were run dry at the end of the year form the same white powdery corrosion / oxidatzion that aluminum forms over time if not cleaned.

According to them it stabilize too but they don't say for how long in storage. This is all I found.
"For Fuel Stabilization
1. Use 1 pint to 25 gallons or (average of 1 ounce per gallon) to stabilize and condition fuels. One pint stabilizes 25 gallons of regular, unleaded and diesel fuels.
2. Use 1 pint to stabilize 6-12 gallons of 2 cycle (gas-oil mix) fuels (average 2 ounce per gallon)."
I just called and they sell this stuff at Napa close to here. Cheaper than Yamaha's Ring-Free...

You have to add sta-bil every 25-30 days or so, it forms a film on the surface of the fuel & helps keep air from contaminating the fuel...as well as all the other things it does, but if you disturb the sled you are gonna have to add more to it...I add it to my tank the last ride of the season, fog the sled & add some on 15th of every month all summer long...then again, I pull the carbs each late fall & give them a good cleaning, just that they are not dirty or gummed up...this year I'm giving the seafoam a try...

If sta-bil is lighter than gas and floats on top, then even if you disturb the sled it should go back on top after a short while?
Then only thing I wonder about Seafoam and Yamaha's Ring-Free is this. When storing a sled Yamaha wants us to run the oil pump rich for a couple of minutes before shutting off the sled. Or some of you fog the engine. But if running Seafoam or Ring-Free gas additives at the same time then this stuff is made to remove any carbon deposit. Wouldn't it also remove all the rich oil or "fog" on all the internal metal surface too? Seems counter intuitive when storing an engine.

thats not the case, sta-bil doesn't do that,it mix's with gas not floats on top it, it gives your gas a reddish tint to it when it mix's.PhatboyC said:If sta-bil is lighter than gas and floats on top, then even if you disturb the sled it should go back on top after a short while?
Don't need to run the pump full like that, use a fogging oil, it's "designed" to protect internal engine components and prevent rust,ring-free or s/f won't wash any thing like that in a short run period, now ring free i wouldn't use that until fall when you get the sled out..PhatboyC said:Then only thing I wonder about Seafoam and Yamaha's Ring-Free is this. Summer fuel is only fresh for a couple weeks & winter fuel a little longer, also the same with different grade fuels
Yes with the use of seafoam or ring free its a detergent, or cleaning agent...right...so after I clean my carbs, fire up the sled, bring up to temp...I then pull on my oil cable to lengthen it & test the oil pump out as well as giving the engine a good dose of oil...after a minute or so I'll take it out for a rip...
