does this sound too rich?

I have a 2002 mm700 mine used to foul plugs after i broke the sled in I dropped the pilot to a 40 these sleds are rich from the factory for my area I am at 0- 2000 ft temperatures to -25C the 40's really cleaned the bottom end up if your killing plugs in my opinon it is the pilots the plugs are loading up at slow speeds or trail riding I ran mine 140,138,138 40 pilots 1.5 turns on air screw and needles at 2.5 (third clip position one shim over one shim under) I have ran this setup for 7000km now also check float heights.

Sh*t! That is superlean man. I also run between 0-3000 ft and I run 142,5 (PTO side), 141,3, 141,3 and I was told to be VERY careful giving full throttle for more than 10 seconds. How long do you dare to go full throttle with that setup Newfoundlander?? How does your pistons look on top? Whitish?

I can hold it to the handle all day pistons look fine 7000 km or so on this jetting and all is fine. I actually find it a bit rich when it warms up. My father has a venture 700 and is running his leaner than mine 140,138,138 needle in second position and 35 pilots 1 1/4 turn on the air screw no problems 4000km on his. I find his a little lean on the pilot though I would stick with 40's he doesn't run quite as hard as me but can hold it open on a lake no problem. I don't know if the humidity is different in our areas.

Must be the humidity. Because mine is just a little bit lean when warming up. Funny though that it is such a big difference.

I have btw also Bender piped mine including clutching according to Turk for this season. I can honestly say that you will need some serious setup 800 to beat me 0-80 mph. This thing rocks!!! :die: :rockon: :rockon:

WOW! both of those setups seem super lean. I think I'm gonna try 142.5 straight across and see what happens. I just ordered 1 higher and 1 lower pilot, so I'll try one pilot down also. Will see. I might need a new engine soon!

edit... I'm also gonna check my oil injection cable. maybe its out of adjustment. who knows?

My jetting is on the lean side yes, but I have gone full throttle for a minute several times when -15 deg celcius and no problem. Did not check the pistons or sparkplugs though. But when it is colder than that I am careful not to go full throttle for longer periods. It is to damn cold then anyways... :letitsnow
