Well if you read my post yesturday, one off my 7.5 Rear wheel broke apart at abiut 95 mph.Got home and took everything apart and put in the original rear 7" wheels back in.Took sled for a test run today for 15 miles, did some wot runs near 100 mph, could be more..but terrain to rough and short to do so.Still hitting things under the snow.Went along a ditch system where there was a lot of snow and suddenly they was a side drain going the other way.So the sled dropped into it and flew right up in the air.The hood was basically in my face at that point, almost vertical.Came down without any problems, landing was smooth as icing. The suspension is working good now. Went back to see the spot.I was airborne for about 30 feet, track came down first and for another I would say 20 feet the ski's finally touched down.I was going at a fairly good speed to when this happened.I never panic in these situations and always hang on to the sled.Got to be ready for anything.
Anyways I am still getting that low end bog or something, because when I nail it from a standstill she'll hesitate a bit and the DCS comes on.I have to feather the throttle a few times and then nail it.Once I engage at 4000 rpm the sled just rockets away.My top end wot rpm's are dead on to 8400-8500 no more and she is pulling. My cluthes are really cool to the touch ,which is great and means my belt is not overheating also.Love that feeling when it accelerates.
QUESTION is do I still need to open fuel screws a little more?It is at 1 3/4 turns out now.Motor will idle down by itself, but still takes the time to do so.Maybe I should invest in fuel screw adjusters.Where would I purchase these from anyways?

LOL!!!!!! Not a death wish.It is called snowmobiling. We are not driving on flat roadways like cars do.We are off roading and have to expect the unexpected. If I was going 80 mph..yeah I would of been hurt or perhaps the sled.I might of been going 40 to 50 I think,it came up fast on me and no way out but to go straight thru it and hang on tight...but never panic.

aggressive clutching needs more fuel to help the engine rev up, more load is being placed on the engine, run the screws out to 2 turns, when you get to 2 turns out, and itstill needs more, its my rule of thumb to go to the next biggest pilot jet andn start over at 1.25 turns with a bigger pilot. the pilot is the one who determines the flow, the screw is merely a restriction, and only adjustable so far before you need more flow.

You not riding today.I am just about to go out for another run and go smell out the doo's.Just waiting for some punk to take his new doo and hit a couple of big rocks sitting under the snow along the floodway.I know where they are,but some greenhorn rider will come tearing out the corner and nail them rocks at high speed and CRACK!!! there goes their new sled.I keep going back to this area, and I know it well,to see if any sled parts are scattered around.Night time driving in this area would be deadly for some guy not familiar with the territory.SOMEONE will nail these rocks one way or another and there is nothing I can do about it but stay a distance or go around that area.

mrviper700.I really get what you are saying.I did put jetting and pilot to 2001 specs.Pilots are 40's for the 2001.Went 1 1/8 turn and found out the motor would not drop to idle at all. Then went and turned the pilot 1 3/4 turns out and at least it drops down to idle, takes a few seconds. So that changed something.I will try going to 2 turns out, that should show some difference again,I'll have to see.Like you said,if that don't work, then I'll put in the 42.5 pilot jets that were in there from factory. Will test again and go from there.I will solve it.The little 700 runs excellent otherwise.Once I reach engagement, she flies. Now I am thinking that because the snow is loose yet,my launch rpm is a tad high.It registers in at about 8400,drops slightly and she pulls nicely to 8500 at wot.Again I have 7 g in heel and 8 g in tip. There is nothing I can do with that to bring launch rpm'd down,it's the loose snow.

HC,s really load the motor down low. i really had to crank out the fuel screws to get out the low end bog in piped ported 700 sx,s. You can tell how much better those weights work cus with 8bu,s or 8dn-20,s i had no low end bog but with hc,s it really pulled way harder down low & needed more fuel.

Turk,I get what you are saying there to.When she clears, man does it ever pull nicely to.So far no real problems with the HC's,less of a pain to work with also.I am like I said hitting 8400-8500 top end and am happy.Got my engagement at 4000 like we discussed and am happy. The clutches are running cool also which is great, better for the belt also. Will work on them fuel screws.

I'm going to tell you now. Put a set of 45 pilots in it with 1 1/2 turn on the fuel screws !!! I just did this to mine. I had a bad bog. Now it revs like crazy right from 1800 rpm to 8300 !!WOWWWWWWWWWWW does this little blue devil rip ! I can't believe how strong these sleds are for "little 700's" . I will ride my SRX over my 2000 mach Z anyday. I swear it's like a "GO-KART" with a track !! Thanks to everyone on here who helped and gave me some great advise !

Really...good to hear. All I have handy right now are the 42.5,so I would try them firstly. But I would take your advice if they don't do it for me.Thanks.

i also got the bog to go away with the 42.5's and the fuel screws out to 2 1/2 turns. I decided to lean the fuel screws and run the 45 pilots. try the 42.5's 1st and see. Hope this works for you. It sure made a screamer out of my sled !! :2strokes:

That will be my project for the weekend I guess. When you back them screws out 2 1/2 turns, aren't you close for the screws to fall out.I don't want that to happen.

No. I wouldn't go any further than that though. It worked well , but i felt it was safer to go with the 45's ! Good luck and let us know how you make out .

slight bog still remains.....ah crap!!!!!

well took the SRX out for a run today. It was crisp out, about -10 C. I have installed the 45 pilots with 1.5 turns out and I still am getting a lean bog.It will idle down, but takes like 10 seconds or so.If I pull the choke ,it will go down to idle,so it is still lean, don't make sense.I have changed the weight in the HC's,was at 7g heel prior, now have it at 4.2 grams heel. That along took away the major bog I had,but still abog there annoying me.Engages around 4200.Do I have to still turn them fuel screw more, man does it ever need the fuel down low.I hopfully will be getting fuel screw adjusters in about a week and a half, that will help in adjusting the fuel screws and save me time.Guess I'll have to go 1 3/4 to 2 turns out with the 45 pilots.Otherwise the sled peels off great. Was doing some short runs today from a standstill and with the best snow I can fine that is a little packed, she rockets off the line and lifts the ski's and pulls to 8500ish.Just need to br smooth off the line, not feathering throttle to get that snappy holeshot. Hmmmmm!!! #$%&*

daman.Originally the 02 comes with 42.5 mains.I rejetted the SRX to the 01 specs with the mains and pilots.Mains are good, but then with the 40 pilots and the HC's there was a large bog.I still remember last year I had a slight bog with the 42.5's,so wasted my time and money with the 40's.So I went and put in 45 pilots now, cause everyone keeps saying to increase the size and turns until bogging stops. Now the idle doesn't hang up completely, but still takes 10 secs to come down. This is with the 45's and 1.5 turns out which people have been telling me will solve the problem, but not.If I go 2 turns out and it doesn't stop it,does that mean bigger pilots again.I will be getting fuel screw adjusters in the next week to week and a half from now, then I will open the pilots up more.Hope that works.Need to have that smooth response on low end when I pin it.Otherwise this sled flies.Need a good long stretch to see how she pulls on top end speed wise.RPM's seem to be in the 8500 rpm range when at full throttle.By the way, looked out my door tonight and the snow is coming down good. That is making me happy for tommorrow.
