My 2000 SXR 700 just broke the chain case. Both sides. I still have to find out why it broke but I know right now I need a new chaincase. What years and models will fit my sled?? Thanks for any replies!!!
any of the proaction sleds from 97-03, sx,sxr,srx,vmax, viper all the same. Some have a differnt boss on the outside cover but thats it.

Thanks for info! Shouldn't be too hard to find. Whats a "boss"?
The boss would be like a bracket that would hold a battery for electric start.

yup you should be able to easily find a chaincase for one of those, very common parts between the chassis. As for the new four strokes now with the chaincase molded into the frame, I would hate to see what you have to do if you crack the case.

your chaincase broke because of a failed drive shft, and or bearing.replace all drive bearing with new when you reassemble...chip

Why does it have to be a bearing or shaft? Chaincases break all the time from broken chains as well.

The chain is not broke, the sled still moves. I haven't torn it apart yet. The sled has 8600 miles on it and I replaced the drive bearings at around 4000. I would think Yamaha bearings should last longer than that. Its getting torn apart Saturday.
Luckily, this is my second sled that my brother rides so I haven't lost any ride time!
