I think untill NGK comes out and say's "yes you can run them in a SRX" ,people will be reluctant to use them.
I dont think the IX plugs have been around very long.
I am going to settle this. I am going to call NGK tech support and get further info on this.
Until then, All you guys with "mods," IE pipes motor work ETC need to put it back to stock because its not factory reccommended.. LMAO!!!!!!!

You cant win em all Tom, no matter what someone on this site is going to disagree. Me personally wouldnt have a problem running these plugs. I use to run them in my CR but it seems to run smoother with the Platinums(now discontinued) vs the Iridum.
Wiseco makes pistons for a SRX and reccommends them in their catalogue. Are you going to buy them since its their reccommendation for a replacement?

I have run these plugs in my SRX for 3 seasons now without 1 foul out. I really only do high speed runs with my SRX and have made pulls of 1 mile+ on several different occasions. You guys can listen to whatever you desire and you obviously have that right. Majority of people on this site will only do what is highly recommended whether it is right or wrong and most seem to be scared to strive for a change in their sled. I had 5000 trouble free miles on my SRX with 145, 145, 146.3 mains in it running 87 octane fuel and doing UNCOUNTABLE lake races with that setup. On paper it looks like suicide to most but it obviously worked for me and worked extremely well. All I am trying to say is there is more than just one way to have your engine run and dont be scared to go outside the box. These plugs have been one of the best investments I have made on my sled.

ask buffalobob, he would surely have the answer.
But really, how do my plugs look like in the pics I posted...thanks, I got mrvipers opinion...how about yours...thnks
Well,
I just called NGK. The guy said this plug has been out since the late late 90's. He said they are the same exact heat range as the ECS only difference is the superior quality of the IX. He said people run them all the time. They are the same stem length and have the same characteristics of the ECS where ther sit in the combustion chamber. He said Yamaha probaly standardizxed their sleds with a regular plug and we have something better to match it. He ended his conversation like this " THE IX PLUGS WILL PROBALY NEVER FAIL OR BE IN ANY FORM OF INCAPATABILTY AFTER REPLACING THE STANDARD PLUGS WITH IX"

Im going to give these a try they sound like they will improve plug life. thanks mrviper and tomseal6
thanx?? I didnt do anything but give the blues some things to look for when reading a sparkplug, I learned it all from keyboard racing...LOL.
You can use any sparkplug you want, they have differnt applications but nothing is set in stone, as long as your using the right heat range, reach and purpose. I wont even bother to mention what plugs I have ran for years......it wouldnt be worth the argument that would ensue....

so I CAN USE THE a BR9ES IN MY SRX????? DON PLEASE TELL ME THAT IS OK??? has your computer told you this???..LMAO!!!!
Dave, I have used them before in trail riding with no ill effects to date, the viper uses them stock and has more compression and less cooling in the head! theres lots of other plugs that can be used with no problems. If you check out the ngk website its got alot of cool information on plugs and lots of reading to absorb.
I used bosch super 4's (4 ground straps)with great success...............I plead the 5th,...no comments...LOL!

srx 700 plugs
Hello,
You would want to use the BR9ECSIX stock# 5438 which will be comparable
to the original BR9ECS.
The BR9ECS has a shorter stronger ground electrode design that is more
resistant to vibration and damage. I would not suggest substituting the
BR9ES or BR9EIX in its place, as the ground electrode on these plugs
could fail and cause severe engine damage. Hope this helps, thank you.
