iradium plugs

I have also been runnig these since this thread started, have had 2500k of trouble free riding, colour is perfect and starts better. im convinced!

This is probobally unrelated but.... My DCS has never come on since I changed to these plugs. Call it what you will, but im not going back LOL!

Most of us are running the iridium BR9EIX for our SRX. Any ground electrode failing with these? (post #41). I run them last winter and no problems so far.

Since NGK iridium replacement for our BR9ECS is actually BR9ECSIX I'm wondering if I should switch.

I had a 99 machZ 800 triple that would foul a plug roughly ever 100 miles........I installed a set of Denso Iridium (the 1st company to use iridium) and the fouling stopped. I ran those plugs for 3 years and sold the sled when I got my 03 RX-1. The seller called me after his 1st weekend north with it. He was raving about how he was finally able to beat his buddies SRX. The only thing he didn't like was how many plugs he fouled. It turns out he put a fresh set of standard plugs in when he bought the sled from me. He said he was going to pull the Denso's out of the trash in his shop and re-install them.

I've used them for two seasons in the Viper (4000kms) and for 2000 kms in my old 1991 Yamaha Phazer. I've never fouled a plug in my life. Maybe I'm lucky. Knock on wood. I love these plugs.

Unless somebody shows me factual information that it is not good to run these plugs and why, I will be very content running them.

Alot of here and there say.

I have provided factual information on why they are good plugs to run in post #5. If you have negative feedback on this plug than you should state factual info on why they are so bad.

Just to bust some chops, spark plugs have no moving parts so technically, they do not wear-out. Erosion, yes. Wear, no.

I have not fouled an NGK in my '01 SRX since I've owned it. Over 4K with the as received plugs.

One problem with these high dollar precious metal plugs is the advertised long life. With most OEMs going to aluminum cylinder heads, getting these out after >100K miles can be tough. Use anti-sieze (for automotive applications with tapered seals).

I put a set in my 2003 prairie ATV 650 v-twin. I had to back out the Idle mix screws to make it run right. It had a lean pop down low just off idle. It must be due to a better burn? Either way it runs great have had the plugs in for over 300 hours. I am going to get a set for my sled now that im thinking of it.

Do some search and homework on wiseco pistons here on TY.

Okay, done.

I see some guys complain about Wisecos and others rightfully suggest that if not installed and warmed properly, Mr. Squeaky shows up. I do remember some quality issues with the ring pins, but also remember piston issues on OEMs as well.

My personal experience with two guys that say Wiseco sucks (they both had cold siezures) suggest that perhaps the fact that they are also the same two that pull the cord and pin it is why they think Wiseco sucks. Kawinky, Dink, no. Cold siezures, yup.

Then there is the fact that my experience with Wisecos in trail applications has been nothing but outstanding. But then again I used to be the first to light my sled after a lengthy lunch/dinner break and didn't go WOT until things were warm.

Look, I'm not trying to pick a fight. But you went off on someone that expressed his opinion and started ranting about facts. But you're quick to rant about Wisecos based on opinions. Then according to the post by Mr. Peeler from NGK, you were factually incorrect and recommended the wrong plug.

Run what you prefer. I just wanted to share my positive experiences with these plugs whether they are right or wrong.

You are correct on OEM piston issues. The 97- 98 twins had a problem with the ring pins falling out. Yamaha came out with an update to resolve that. The wiseco rings will not last as long even if you are careful about warming up the sled. They are much thinner than Yamaha rings.

I'll take your word that the rings are thinner than Yamaha, but my experience has been just the opposite compaired to Polaris. Specifically, Fuji mono-block.

Over 7000 miles on the same Wiseco pistons and rings. Which reminds me I still have three sets of rings for that sled I should give to the guy I sold it to.
Unless someone here needs three sets of .020" over for a 598 XCR/XLT??
Any takers?.. na, I didn't think so.

Peace!

OK, who knows of a good source for buying the iridium plugs: BR9ECSIX (SRX)and the CR10IX (RX-1)? Does Bruce at CB performance have them in stock??
