Long Track Kits?

Who's the best bang for the buck when it comes to long track kits. I just dumped my AR-15 and figured I'd long track my sled to 136". I'm really liking Tracks USA extensions for the fact they extend the hyfax all the way back, and they interlock with the rails. Looking for some input on different extensions. I don't really want to bend rails (I'll jump around on the power lines, nothing to extensive). Looking for the extensions and track package deal. Should I look at a big wheel kit also? Are they worth anything other than looks. I know I'm going to loose top end with a longer track, but maybe the big wheel kit will help gain some back. Thanks for the input, Drew.

I have the Tracks Usa extensions and they seem great.Over 300 miles of pounding and no issues, I did'nt expext any though as these have a great track record.The word is that you'll bend your factory rails before you bend those extensions and I have saw the pictures to prove it.Rich on here is now making rail extensions that look very nice and strong like the Tracks Usa versions.I bought my tunnel extension kit from him which is a Hartman kit and very nice quality.I geared down one tooth on the top and went with a shorter chain on mine and it improved the holeshot and I think I have better top end as well as better mileage which was definetely a surprise.I have been told that this is because the factory gearing is just too high in general.I can't help you with the big wheel kit, but I bet Rich can.Get in touch with him I'm sure he can put together a nice package deal for you at a good price.

Thanks for the info. I will probably go with Tracks USA. Also does anyone have Hartman extensions? How do you like them? I've heard they're good people to deal with, but I may be able to get away cheaper with extensions, tunnel and track with Tracks USA. Again Thanks, Drew.

The word is that Tracks Usa's tunnel extensions aren't very good for yammi's.No hose covers in the kit and it would be very difficult to run a rear heat exchanger.With my hartman kit it was just some minor work and the cooler was in.The tunnel kit through Rich which is a Hartman was $280 and a 136" ripsaw and rail extensions from Tracks usa was like $544 with shipping.If you buy a track with the extensions from him you get the rail extensions for $50 less or there old regular price.You could say they just want to sell you a track as well with there rail extensions!Or you could just get everything from Rich, your call.

Also, the Hartman kit is very nice, looks factory and seems rugged.From the research that I've done its the only one worth using for a yamaha.Tom Hartman is super to deal with if you ever have any product questions or just sled help in general as he has been a yamaha specialist for over 20 years.

Drew I have tracks USA and they look and work great, some grinding needs to be done to make them fit, butthen is a nice snug fit, the tunnel mmmm I don't know I put some thincking and time to make it work and since I don't own a machine shop I had to cut holes with my tools and stuff...And this year I put the hose covers because they looked awfull before...I will take some pics later and email them to you...And I hada good deal on my hole set up, rails, tunnel and 1.25 predator for $ 500 shipped.
I will search on some other tunnel fabricator....Now that I remember I had to drill the hole for the rear bumper too...

I'll talk to rich about the kits he has. I'll probably order all of this up when I order my clutch alignment tool. Also, I'm wondering if I should get a track with all windows clipped so I can run studs, and 8 tooth extros eventually. Figured if I go 8t then it would be better to go with extros for a little looser running track and less ratcheting. Just trying to think ahead so I don't have to by another track.

I used the hartman stuff on my Viper. The extensions I got came with the hyfax extension and an additional set of wheels between the new joint. Seems like a pretty good setup. Rich's stuff looks nice also. As for the extension it is OK. I would have rather stayed with my 04 Viper rear cooler but I think the MM cooler is sufficient. It does have the advantage of cooling from both sides. Every time I have rode there is a collection of snow on top of the tunnel. The kit also came with the MM hose covers. I thought that was nice. I bought track from Rich. Price was good and he got it to me quick. I also went to the longer YAMAHA snow flap. Extensions I bought used. Track is a new Predator 1.25. Hyfax from the dealer $17 I think. Seemed to hook up significantly better than the old stock track. If your in the area drop by and check it out.

Here you go if I don't post tghem now it will be harder later.....Look at the rear cooler I kept the aluminum that came from the factory, I don't know how to call it....Let em know if they help or you need diferent ones...I also added one from the last add on....(benders)

Oh one more thing dont paint the tunnel unless you know what you are doing or some pro does it for ya, you'll see what I mean.
And my tunnel is a 144 for xtra cargo space.....

With the Hartman extension you pretty much have to run the cooler on the top of the extension on the bottom side.The cooler tubes have to be cut off and turned 90 degrees so they are facing the right direction.I had a weld shop do this for me, cost 20 bucks, the holes for the cooler are in the right spot though.It also helps to shorten the cooler tubes slightly before having them welded back on.

I did the same thing with the cooler from my wife's SXR 600. The way I seen it was that either I cut and turn the tubes or buy a new cooler. I figured I might as well give it a try or else it would just collect dust on the shelf or try and sell it. It would be like the other stuff from sleds gone by that I said I would sell. Some day I will have to sit down and do that, need the space. You have to cut the tubes a little shorter but what I did was cut them off flush to the weld and grind the tube at a angle so the tubes point outwards it would be a little easier to get the hose's on plus not so tight for the hose covers to fit.
