I am just wondering if I want to replace my 700 sxr motor with a viper/srx motor what would I need?
If I am right I would need the exhaust,pv,cyc heads, and the carbs
Did I miss something?

To change from a non powervalve powerplant to a powervalve type powerplant you will need:
complete motor(red head v.s powervalve parts not comatible),
pipes,
CDI,
motor mounts(I think),
pv controller,
the carbs will innerchange, not sure abut the airbox. and I'm sure that I missed a few things. T

Not to mention that it doesn't just drop right in either. You have to do some modifications to the belly pan to even get it in there.

So the block is definetly different. I thought I could build from the block up. I was thinking on making this my next project but I do not know if it is worth it. I was thinking on getting as much as I can out of my sxr with a viper motor.
The viper and SRX cylinder and case is very similar. both have power valves with the vioer having a little better porting than the SRX. The viper crank is lighter than the SRX. Viper has a single mono head and single exhaust where the SRX has individual heads per cylinder and triple pipes.
The SX SXR Motor is a completely differnt animal. Non powervalved and no parts will interchange with the other 2

Go figure. That is why no one converts there sx to a srx/viper sleeper. Thanks for the info.
Buy mine
Joe, why don't you just sell that thing and come up here an buy one of my sleds?

I don't remember you having a viper. I did see you had one in 05 from the threads you started. I thought last year you had a phazer & a srx?

That is a nice sled. I think you were getting work done on it when I was up. never did see it in person

If Im not mistaking, I saw Matts viper motor sitting in mrvipers shop back in the fall of 05 getting some serious work done to it.
Different motor
The viper motor in Don's shop was my 780. This one is a stocker. Different sleds alltogether. This sled has been my daily driver for two years.

there is an SXR-X for sale in the classifieds. that is the first I have ever seen with an SRX motor in an SXr and it is a Hauck custom. the hood clearance with pipes is also an issue.
