made a bet with cousin on gas mileage

My cousin keeps telling me he thinks my SRX is a gas hog compared to his 2006 H.O. Rev.

I made a $20 bet with him that when we go riding in the U.P. in a few weeks that wont be the case. We are both going to top our sleds off and see who has to stop first for gas or if we stop for gas somewhere, the person that has to put the most gallons in the tank to top it off loses the bet.

I am running stock gearing a a good trail clutch set-up with 8DN-20 weights WWW primary and a 51/43 helix.
 
Bad bet unless you can really control the throttle. UP trails are wide and overall straight (depending on where you go) My friend has an 06 HO rev with SDI and he gets about 18. He rides pretty slow. Winning a bet just isn't worth not using the throttle and railing the corners... blasting down the long straights etc...
 
HE rode my sled 2 years ago in the U.P. when I was deployed over seas but that was when I didnt have it setup right.

He said never again, and when I talked to him today, he said his ASSS is still soar from riding that thing and not his Rev.

He also mentionion that is was the fastest and best handling sled he over rode.
 
Were all the 06's SDI? If not and his is just the 600 H.O without SDI I wouldn't sweat it. A good friend of mine was on a 2005 600 H.O without SDI my piped 600 sx got about the same MPG as him. The 600 H.O motors are nothing to talk about unless they have the SDI to go with them in my opinion.
 
I think you could get non SDI 600HO's in 06, and I think you still can get the SDI or non SDI version.

that said, if it is an SDI, my money would be on the rev. Sorry, but I have seen the tremendous mpg's these sdi mills get.

Good luck Tom, although the SRX's where pretty fuel stingy those sdi motors are misers as well. Ease in the throttle and NO racing LOL
 
well check the weather forecast for temps and lower your jetting if you can, if you dont plan any long wide open pulls you can drop a size or two, even lowering your needles a clip may help your cause. thats one bet i wouldnt of taken but you have options as long as you know your running on the lean side and not keep her pinned.

I also forgot to mention that we had agreed to go double or nothing on a long pull a half mile or so little race.

He said he done some things to his sled but we will see.
 
The 600 sdi was the only sled at sled trax to get better milage than the vector. I'd say you will be liter on your second trip. LOL Maxdlx
 
My bets are on the SRX.
The one we ride with does better on fuel than any of the others. Including two 600 HO's.
