My son and I want to go up to the tug hill region to do some riding. The problem is that we are not familiar with the area or the trails. Last year we went up and asked at a diner where to go. We really never hit a main trail which is a little frustrating. Can someone familiar with the area give me an insiders opinion on where to park and a good trail or maybe a loop to at least start out on? Thanks.
A few questions
Day trip or are you staying overnight? How far do you want to ride?

It would be a day trip. Probably to ride for about 4 hours.
where is orange county? if south of syracuse and your on interstate 81 it is worth traveling to sandy creek exit just north of pulaski. At the exit turn right just before the railroad tracks is a diner and i have dropped there. Pick up the trax left side which will be on the east side of the tracks. Signage is good fom there. If you have a map Lacona forest is just north east and little john is a good drop as well, rt 17....happy motoring CP
Ok
GET A MAP. If there is snow off the hill park at the Quick N Easy in Constableville. If snow is thin off the hill park up on Smith Road at the NYS DEC parking lot just above Constableville. The easiest way to ride around Tug Hill is to go from one restaurant/bar to another....it's easier to follow the signs to these places than it is to follow trail/road signs. I don't know all the roads off the top of my head. Ride out Smith Road & go left, right, left down to Highmarket. From there go on to the Sportsmen. Keep going down Michigan Mills road & take a right back up to the RR tracks & follow them into Talbotts Corners. Go left then right then left....be sure to stop by the gorge which is in the pine trees to your right. Exit the gorge & go right then first left then right & follow it up to the Flat Rock. Go down Flat Rock road & take first right on Poor Road. At end of poor road go left to Montague. At Montague go left to end of road then take another left back up to Flat Rock. Now go back down to Talbotts Corners (don't go past the gorge this time) & keep going straight to the Timberview. Go back up to Talbotts Corners but dont go back on the RR tracks, go the other way back south....I think it's North South Truck Trail. When you are heading down look for Plumber Road on the left (this is the intersection you came out on when you started the day). Go left on Plumber Road then right, left, right back to Smith Road or Quick N Easy, where ever you parked. This is a good easy to follow ride pushing 100 miles & will teach you a lot about this area of Tug Hill. Should be about 4 hours or so. Good luck!

My drop site is closer
Coldplay.....he is way down south. I think my loop will be easier for him because it's much closer by car. The Smith Road drop is about as far south east as you can park but still be up on the hill.

Thanks guys, I'm watching the weather. It looks a little warm this weekend but will give it a try as soon as it cools off again. I appreciate your help.
