modded SRX speeds....PORTED engines

these motors you guys have run at 8500rpm, no higher, the reason is simply the cdi box retards the timing and you lose power above that, the engine would probally go higher rpm but the timing would need to be changed to gain anything, no good for a trail engine anyways, so run em at 8500rpm!

My number for a stock srx with primary adjustment were 116 all day long on a good track. After porting found the sled would overrev, added more weight, than found it did not like stock straight angle helix. So if it needs more weight it is makeing more hp and should be able to overcome the teens with proper clutching. This year i hope to find out.

I shouldn't be too far off from that.

Maybe I can get one of the guys on the TY ride to lend me their GPS on a quick run. It doesnt sound like I am wishful thinking. Good realistic numbers you have there snowrules

98's had 23\37 while 99-02 had 23\38, there is a few mph there and remember a gps is not as accurate as a radar gun..

Im not exactly sure how it works but why wouldnt that extra HP from porting cancel out that extra lug height from the rip saw?

I guess if it doesnt work that way, I could just add about 3 MPH onto my speed to see what I would of had with maybe even a stock .92 track.

Oh man Tony I can just see it now LOL. classifieds.. WTB: H/C's LOL

HEY BIG SRX MAN ( jminor ) THANKS FOR THAT GEARING TABLE. WHAT ARE YOU PUTING IN BOX FOR '' TEETH ON DRIVERS ''. SEEMS ALITTLE UNACCURATE ''. 3:16 (yammie tony)

AND A GPS AIN,T AS ACCURATE AS A RADER GUN. ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FIRST TIME I EVER HEARD THAT ONE. 3:16 (yammie tony)

110.49 MPH with stock gearing, stock everything doesnt sound too far off does it?

UHHH OK...I suppose that is why they are strapping them to sleds at radar runs as opposed to using a tri-bar..

YAMMMIGOD!!!!!!!!!

so alot of these people that say they have been in the HIGH 120's without H/C"s is probaly all B.S. cause radar gun aint as accurate???? I gues I will be doing pretty darn good if I hit 119 with 8DN-20's and stock gears..

YA, I AM GONNA LOSE TO A GUY THAT THINKS A RADER GUN IS MORE ACCURATE THAN A GPS. NOW THATS FUNNY. !! LIKE I TOLD YA ON VMAX4.COM !! GO WIN SOME RACES THAN GIVE ME A CALL. YOU AIN,T DRIVING AROUND US JOSH, NOT AT 700 cc YOUR NOT. 3:16 (yammie tony)

TOM, THERE IS NOTING DEAD ON ACCURATE MORE THAN A GPS. ITS REALLY THE ONLY WAY TO MEASURE 100 % ACCURATE SPEED. I HAVE SEEN THESE USED ON SNOWMOBILES THAT ARE RUNNING THE 1/4 MILE ON TAR AND THEIR MORE PRESISE THAN THE TRACKS TIMERS. RADER GUNS ARE NOT EVEN CLOSE. RADER GUNS HAVE TO BE RECALIBRATED AFTER YOU BUMP THEM AGAINST THE CASE YOU CARRY THEM IN. THAT COMMENT IS TOTALLY WRONG. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Thanks for learning me something new today Tony, I will see if one of the guys in Muni will let me see if I can do a true 119 MPH...

How much does a good GPS cost that I can get? What brand and model # that will tell me speed. and small enought to put in my jacket.

YES, I HAVE A QUAD PIPED 96 AND A BOX STOCK 95. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I bet you got her dialed in tough for SRX to beat? Dont know much about em but heard they really lay down some high digit HP #s with quads and in the right hands. Are you in the 120's with the V-4?
