2004 SX Venom performance

Good trail performance sled. Would be fun to ride. Fast, very dependable but defidentally not a lake racer. It basically a viper chassis so it will handle the same.

Sled will be very reliable. Just keep carbs clean and change rings every 3000 miles

Not a good "performance" sled - a good trail sled though, underpowered compared to other 600's but a great sled overall.

It's probaly one of the most dependeable motors yamaha made non power valve 600 and 700's.
There is a lot of small cheap mods that will wake that sled up and beat stock sxr700's.
Check out the tech page on the main page there is tons of info over the years on that engine.

Update Update! Before my father in law even took it off the trailor he happened to be going by a dealership and stopped in for the hell of it. Well he ended up leaving with a new sled. They gave him more than he paid fo r the venom and he upgraded to a 05 vector with es and rev. I tooled around the yard with it. Seems pretty snappy, but even more I love the look of the sled. Absoulutely very nice to look at. Plus the battery was dead so I got to wrench on her a bit. Put the new battery in and she fired right up. lastly There is some serious pinging sounds coming from the motor at idle and it sounded like maybe a rod bearing or something and when my FNL called the dealer they said the priamary clutch on it is a great gas milage clutch but the downside is that it makes a tinking sound. That is the only thing I dont like about the sled. It sounds like crap at idle. All you here is ta-ting ta ting ting.

ya that is normal on the vector motors. tons of posts on that on the 4 stroke side and some possible solutions.
