Aaen Pipe Phazer II Installation

Issue:

I have an Aaen pipe for a Phazer II which I am in the process of installing and have a minor brain cramp; the pipe is brand new and was installed and jetted.

Question: How do I install the heat-shield plates at the rear of the pipe? The directions indicate that I am to rivet one piece to the footwell area and I believe the curved piece attaches via exhaust springs.

Any information?

If needed, I'll try to post pics later.

I did this on another sled last year but am questioning whether I did that one correctly.

I am concerned about melting the side panel/belly pan if done incorrect or do not install the shields at all.

is this the thru pipe with stinger on the end? need to drill new exit hole?
can't remember how that worked?
or the can with stinger exiting the stock hole? never used one on my sons Phazer II.
 
To the top- any information before I tear apart the other sled to try and figure out what I did? Man-learned a le4sson here-take pics next time during the installation. Seriously, the Aaen directions suck.
 
Not to jack the post, but what jetting did you get from Aaen? I have one of their pipes on a 92. I am at 4000 feet. The previous owner had 3a nozzle, stock primary nozzle, 143.5 main jets, and 95 pilots. It seems lean to me. I have rejetted. The pipe is the quiet can, or so I think and it just exits the stock hole. There is a heat shield for the fan shroud. It has a spring around the pipe a foot from the end.

I installed one a few years ago on my 91 Phazer II and never used the heat shields and had no problems at all. They looked like they were more trouble than they were worth
 
Dito on the heat shields. I bought them from AAEN and am pretty sure I got rooked. I used some heat tape in the areas that concerned me and made a shield of my own to go against the side panel. I had to drill a new exit hole for mine. I am having trouble with my jetting. I think I may have the rubber plug in the wrong hole. When I rejetted the book showed the plugs in a different hole. I put the plugs where the book said to. Anyone have any insight on this?

Leave the one in the center and swap sides for the plug. The book is wrong.

those pipes are sweet though!once you get everything settled in!i found on my old phazer the jetting ,clutching rec was right on!boyssen reeds also with that combo was really nice!
 
on the PZ the rubber plugs cover the center and the pilot jet, which is just the opposite of the 87 EX carbs, people get that confused all the time.
 
You could contact Aaen with any questions about installation.
