So I went with my buddy the other day and his 01 edge x 600 that has a MBRP race can and 144 studs will kill my viper on top too. Granted I just put in a new chain case cause the old one the chain slapped through it and the belt blew when we went riding . My Viper is stock with C&A Ultra Pros and a 1/1/4" track off a adren ski-doo. I'll only pull 103 on the dreamometer and he'll just cruise right by me. Off the bat my sled will rev to 8600 and then rev to 8800 and reving out. I only loosend the twist on the secondary some but I dont remember what its at. Dealer is full of shit and says his sled will be quicker on top and this is a yamaha dealer. I also only got about 80miles to a tank and thats riding very aggressive. Carbs are good and the pv's were cleaned when I re-ringed it. I'm even till about 50 and then he starts pulling and no matter what I cant catch him on the straightaways. What do I do to kill him?? Pipes, clutch kit? both??? Help me out anybody, thanks I just cant see spending 10000 grand on a sled when the viper is very capable especially with pipes. Also it always bottoms and the rate in the back is in the middle and I'm 145ish with all of my gear on what can I do besides m-10 etc?

Those 600 edges are quick sleds. I raced a few in the 700 class and pretty quick. Do you have any kind of a clutch kit in your sled? You should be seeing alot more than that on the dreemometer. What do you have for gearing?
You should not be revving past 8500 on a stock viper. You are losing alot of power up top with it doing that.

stock gearing, what should I do? Heel clickers or Heavy Hitters? Whats the cheapest? Can i just add some more weight in the tip? What twist should I be running with the straight 47 helix?

for starters, junt get a 53/43 helix and green spring at 70. I think you can make the stock weights run with this but other viper owners will chime in and help you the rest of the way.
Later on, when you get to know clutching more, you can pick up some H/C's and try to dial them in correctly.

Change tip weight to 4.5 grams for a start.

I have a understanding of clutching to some extent, I talked to a tech at super torque for the hc's and he said the multi angle helix is useless so I dont know what I should do. Anyone with a stock Viper would be a great help, thanks

Do you want to be faster or really faster.
If you want to be faster fine tune the weights and get a multi angle helix but if you want your viper to fly without pipes get some heel clickers.MrViper has a set up that i have used in sleds it gained 10 mph on top end and has unreal accelleration and excllent backshift.

ok the guys who sell hc and heavy hitters there weights are doing what a variable has done for years shift it hard on the bottom and use torque to throw the sled out then it gets to the lower numbers on the helix and that pulls the tach up and holds it torque accelerattes the sled horspower holds it

Ok for now the funds wont allow too much for clutching so what do should I just run more weight in the tips and a different helix and spring??

do what turk says more weight have it start when you wack the throttle open to 8200 rpm and pull itself to 8500rpm

Well I just stiffened the secondary twist it was at 40 and now its at 70 and its more snappy, the only thing is that now it really revs up around 8900-9000 when revving out. Does anybody have the part #'s for the weights or whatever I need to add to bring the r's down to 8500? The quicker backshift sure is nicer now.
Put a set of tripple pipes on, that should take care of him quite nicely.

I see rich has the HC setup in stock. Damn I might just have to wait and get those. That would be the ticket to haul by the sounds of it.

The heel clickers are way faster then putting in that helix.Yes we will help you tune it.You will be inpressed. The heel clickers shift hard. There are tons of post on here about heel clickers in vipers and evryone is happier then hell. You will leave that 600 in the dust.Richierich has about the best deal on them.
