If you want to drive to appleton.I will even take the clutches off of another viper and let you run them so you can see the improvment.

Aren't the edges geared real low? My buddy has an 800 and him and I are toss ups. Who ever gets better traction wins.

That would be awesome pro116 but school is starting back up on wed. I think I'm going to get the hc kit and a 48/36 helix from rich. I'm supposed to use the red secondary spring (stock) correct with more twist or should I just order the green one too?? Thanks

Thanks tom for finding it but there is 3 days left on it and its already 170+ with shipping and new from rich is $215 IIRC.
God I love reading these posts... Makes me think I should have left my sled stock so the other guys have no excuses. Oh well, pipes are on now, lol.
Get a dam set of used heel clickers already and a 48/34 helix to match. I got everthing last year used for $150 US. Sled rocks!!!

SXR......send me a PM. I will give you some tips and my opinion. My 2002 runs VERY strong. A 600 Polaris will not even run close with mine. In fact ,neither do XC700 or 800's. BTW, I run Heavy Hitters.

tomseal6 said:Those 600 edges are quick sleds. I raced a few in the 700 class and pretty quick. Do you have any kind of a clutch kit in your sled? You should be seeing alot more than that on the dreemometer. What do you have for gearing?
You should not be revving past 8500 on a stock viper. You are losing alot of power up top with it doing that.
The VES 600 twins are very fast. The Gen II 600 VES are even faster than the edge chassis since the Gen II has less aero drag.
I have taken a lot of 700 cc machines on my near stock 2000 XC600SP VES. Heck, It runs right with several 800cc twins as well. That edge weighs less than the viper as well, so you need to put that into perspective as well.
But yeah, clutch that viper and you will help your case dramatically.

Are you talking 800VES twins(hence Polaris)?? No offense, but they are not that fast. In fact we had a 2002 XC800 EDGE in our shop for a couple years. The blue one with the yellow graphics and the Edge suspension. My uncle has had the inside skinny for years with his Polaris's as far as clutching, etc. He is friends with someone from the Polaris factory. With all the help he got from them, he could still not even get close to getting by our two Vipers. To be honest, he has been so upset with the last several years of Polaris models that he switched back to riding Yamaha after a 15 year hiatus.

the 02 polaris 800 did not have VES.
And I am talking cat 800, skidoo 800 (not the new ones, have not tried them yet) and polaris non ves 800's.
people switch for many reasons. Polaris still sells the most sleds of all the brands. There is a reason for that.

The 2002 most certainly did have VES. Go look it up. We had one. The blue one w/ yellow graphics. 2001 was the last year of the non valved one. Also Polaris is NOT number one anymore. Ski Doo has been for the last few years. I thought everyone knew that. Polaris has the MOST leftover sleds though.
Here is a link to twin pipes available for the 800 VES engine. Notice what model years it covers? 2002-2005

Hmmm.....ya I was thinking that BRP had the most sales in 07' then Polaris, Yamaha and then Arctic Cat?!?

yeah, 02 was the first year for the ves in all polaris performance twins....
still, polaris sells more than Yami.
that said, my next new sled will probably be a yami attack or apex ltx whatever they call them now, or a nytro FX

I somehow remember reading that BRP just edged out Polaris and Yamaha was a distant 3rd, slightly ahead of Cat. I tried to find some sales stats for 2007 but couldn't come up with anything, so I may very well be wrong.horkn said:yeah, 02 was the first year for the ves in all polaris performance twins....

Actually the last I heard was that Doo had a healthy lead in sales. The other three were kind of close. Remember Polaris is including sales of brand new leftover stock. Yamaha has had the largest gains in sales over the last few years though. Just before the 4 stroke changeover for Yamaha, the 2002 year saw the Yamaha Viper being the one model by all mfg's that had the most sales. It's kind of evident on this site. Look at all the different sub sections for models. It seems every time I check the Viper section out, there are 20-40 people viewing it at a time.
