My new to me 780 srx is junk!!!!

Yep, Eric ,is dead nuts right on the money, a sxr has a 59.6mm stroke and a srx has a 64mm stroke!

so what is the boze size of a stock 700 SXR vs SRX. I take it the only thing different is the stroke in these two motors.

I'm in a similiar situation with my 99 MT max 700. I just bought a used head and cylinder here on TY from MM700sleder and I already had the nessessary pistons rings to put a whole new top end in this sled. When I'm all done I'll have about $500.00 tied up in a completely rebuilt top end that will probably go another 5000 miles with out a problem. Other than reeds and a can and a lot of clutch work the sled is stock and very dependable.
Right now I know 4 riders who blew up their mod ski doo 800's and 1000's in the last week. Mods are great if you know what you're doing and you can afford to fix em when they blow or you make a mistake.
Moral of the story Stock = Reliability

The whole thing comes down to the engine being set up correctly, all parts and all settings must be what was prescribed by the builder, and then fuel quality always comes into play, someone trys to cheap out to save a buck and they ruin it, its common.
