Head Gasket Mod With Pipes

remove middle layer only and run high octane gas. Do not reel 2 layers if you are running pipes...not recomended at all. pipes, remove middle layer od gasket, reed spacers or notch, clutch it and get the suspension set up and it will go.

can u use the ordinal head gasket and spilt them or do u need need ones and spilt them

has anyone every re-used there head gaskets, some one told me u could, but never heard that before. I also have hack triple pipes

Do u think the reed spacers really work that and can you use the spacer with v force reeds or no. didn't mean to hijack the tread hear just wondering

thanks

yes, re-use the same gasket. Clean it and use gasket spray on the gasket before installing. Use the two outer layers and remove the iner layer. I have removed and re-used the same gasket twice now. YES reed spacers or notch really works even with v force reeds.

I have a new peak performance head, and have 2 set of domes one is a 22cc and the other is 22.4cc, if it was you what one would you put on with the different head gasket mod. I think the 22.4 is the higher compession dome not sure, but I will have to check in to it.

Do you high tech spray just the top and bottom of one gasket and not worrie about the middle of the two gaskets.

Thanks for all the help, I'm a little new to yamaha, but have ridden a lot of my life. Thanks again

I would not peel the head gasket if you are using peak heads as they already increase compression. The dome size will depend on your elevation you ride.

thanks for the info.

I hoping with the head and some reeds along with the piped I have on it, it will have some more throttle response alone with some more HP.

u can run one layer but def needs to run high octane. with thoes motors u can run a .050 inch squish. squish area is the flater surface around the outside of the dome. u have to have atleast .050 inch between that and the top of the piston when its at top dead center. with stock pipe u can go all the way to .050 that includes shaving the head and running one layer. but with tripple pipes ur biggest concern is heat. the stock coolers cant get it away from the motor fast enough and thats why people have problems running 1 layer with pipes. i ran 1 layer and pipes without a problem. my borther ran 1 layer and head shaved for 7000 miles befor he had a problem. he never re ringed it around 3-4000 like our mechanic recomended. if u realy wanted the most hp and didnt mind taking the chance id run one layer. it would bring u around a .065 squish. remeber its goin to bring ur reliablity down to say a arctic cat. id also get a srx rear exchanger almost 3 times bigger. i have one for sale if u realy want to go that way. pretty much u can do a ton to the 700 non PV motors they have alot of untaped potential. if u want the best bang for ur buck id have them ported. i think Mr. Viper does them on here. theres some one esle too but cant remeber.

Head Gasket

I am looking to get as much out of this motor with out doing major engine mods. i have bender tripple piped hc clutch kit . i did the reed notch i put 1/14 rip saw track on. the sled seem to be a lot fast then it was when it was stock. but not fast enough . my buddy has a 2003 f7 and its all stock and he still kicks my *** . so i need a little more .

Do the gasket mod i did it on my sled when i sold it it had 10000 miles on it and still pulled like crazy! you will be happy you did

drop a tooth on the top gear u absoluty kill him in 660 maybe ever 1000 feet but hell have u on top end. my buddy has a f6 and i had a sxr 700 with shaved head, gasket mod, reed spacer, clutched, geared, adjustable transfer rods, and power inc center dumps. i was prolly close on top end if i didnt gear down but i killed him untill i hit about 95 on the dreamometter then he would creep by. and his f6 for some reason killed f7s at the radar runs. it is fast for some reason. u could always try a bost bottle. i have the carb boots if ur interested. but ud have to have a bottle made. they have blue prints in the tech pages for one and directions. supose to ad alot of low and mid range hp but only a few on top.

I just checked on putting an SRX rear heat exchanger in my 01 SXR. Bender told me that the SRX heat exchanger isn't worth screwing with and that it only holds a 1/2 pint more coolant anyway. Tom Hartman basically told me the same thing. He said it's not worth the effort. I know people are gonna say this is wrong, but I'm just telling you what they told me.

it may only hold a 1/2 pint more but it has about 3 times more surface area. i havent taken my thermal dynamics class yet but im pretty sure the more surface area on any cooling system the more efficent it is. i maybe wrong. and its not that hard to put on anyway. its like maybe 10 rivits. and u take the seat off. biggest thing is bleading the system afterwards.

I have to totally disagree what you were told about the rear exchanger. After installing pipes my tempurature light would flicker on the trails. After adding the SRX rear cooler no more flicker. Which tells me the engine is running cooler.

head gsk.

I have ran one layer head gasket with bender pipes and jetting for pipes and porting, boost bottle ,reed spacers ,boysen reeds, trail porting ,1 1/4 ripsaw with 144 studs, eight tooth drivers, heelclickers and roller rocket 2 all with stock coolers and never had a cooling problem. 1998 xtc 700

all throttle no bottle said:
How Does That Sled Run .
Runs great ,still ironing out the heel clicker clutching though,to get it to what i feel is a good set up for the way i ride .I have it close to what i want.

as i can see you are on the topic of gasket mods, i have a question. i have a peak performance head and i want to run a thin gasket. i am using 21cc domes and i ride at elevations ranging from 1000-3000 feet. what would you guys recommend on the jetting. stock for the viper is 156.5 mains and 45 pilots. i don't want to run lean. the only other mod to the engine is that i am running a bender can
