Hope someone can help I just purchased a 1997 SX700 that is completely stock. Using the 8CH belt the sled wants to creep forward and the belt is about .060" down in secondary. It is rubbing on center shaft of primary not on the sheave part of the primary. I already moved the engine back to center of spec for center to center distance. Should this machine use the 8DN belt, or would that open a clutch tuning can of worms? The 8DN belt was used on the 1998 model and I don't see any difference in part numbers of the sheaves.
Thanks,
Eric

i run a 8dn belt with no problems check the secondary and see if there are any washers behind the three little sheeve adjuster bolts a yamaha is not like a cat the belt does not set as high if there are washers remove them that will open the secondary more
those adjuster bolts wear out///you might need new ones!

The 8CH is the stock belt for that sled, check your bolts on the back of the
secondary like mentioned, pull them out and remove the washers and put
'em back in.
