Just bought viper transfer rods and they don't have the plastic bushings that my stock ones do. My stock rods have a plastic bushing at the top and bottom where they make contact.The bushings on the stock ones are about 4 or 5 mm thick. Are the viper rods supposed to have the same bushings?

If you are talking about the two white plastic washers on the transfer rods, they should be on there....my 02 viper has them.
Having said that, i'm not sure if u should lose any sleep over the fact that they are missing.

make sure they are there. it will ride like crap without them, and it is hard on the steel on stelel parts. Maxdlx

Thanks for the response guys, but they don't fit. Of course I realized this after dropping the skid. The viper rods are about 1" shorter than the SXR. Hope I can get my $ back!
Ok, so my next Q would be how do I adjust my factory rods for more transfer? I was reading the tech pages under suspension set up and it has a section on setting transfer rods. It tells you that they are set at the factory for the average rider, and to increase the top gap for mare transfer, but not how to increase the top gap.

Loosen the adjuster nuts, If you want more transfer( less ski pressure) Increase the top gap between lower nut and top of center rod piece. I moved mine in 1/8" gap at a time. The easiest way is once they are loose or spinning free of one anther, move the top up 1/8" than move lower nut to seat again. now match the other side same way. Good luck

I always though SXR and Viper should be interchangeable. I thought all the long travel parts were .....

Those rods should be the same length, are you saying the adj ones you bought are shorter than your stock ones????
Yes, I dropped the skid before I checked and then I extended the new rods and measured them against the ones on the sled and they are 1" shorter. Unless I'm doing something wrong? Something smells here cause my dealer and the mechanic I bought them from said they would fit. They are from an 02 Viper.

the SX-R has non-adjustable transfer rods. they did not have factory adjustable rods till they came out with the viper. i dont know about the parts inter-changeing you think they would, but you cant adjust the stock ones on you sxr. gotta buy adjustable ones.

i take that back i have been told that you can take the lower bushing out of your stock rods or thin it down but i have never tried it. It lets it drop that much more.
