Ok, I have a '02 Viper w/hauck pipes (the ones made by aaens). I am currently having some clutching issues. Right off the line if you pin it, it will run up to 8900 (too low) and then climb to 9300-9400 after 1 second. If you are going like 30-40 mph and then drop the hammer, it will go like hell and pull up to 9200-9400, but only run at that until any between 95-106 mph on the dream-o-meter, and then the rpms start to drop down to 8500 and so does the mph. It currently has the Hauck #4 clutch kit, which involves a orange primary spring w/shim, green secondary spring @60 deg twist, helix (doesn't say the angles), overdrive sheave, and 8dn10 weights (I don't know how many grams in the tip or center----center is a rivet and the tip is a bolt). Does anyone have a very good setup for me? I'm talking anything, from changing the rollers, primary spring, secondary spring, helix, weights, you name it. I am just sick of monkeying around with this hauck setup. I just want a good setup for my piped viper. Oh yeah, I need to run 9200-9300 on the tach with these pipes. Any help is greatly appreciated.

you are really not that far off if you need to run 9200. You can try adding a washer to the bolt in the tip and see where that gets you. When you pin it you are going to want it to hit just below your target RPM and climb to the max RPM. I assume you are riding trail

I added the washer (.8g) to the tip and that's what I have now. If I remove it, then it revs to 9500-9600 which is too high. There has to be a better setup out there than this hauck setup.

bump..
If you dont know how many grams are where in the wiehgts how am I supposed to know what you have in your sleds?? Think about it, I cant see, hear or ride your sled, I have no idea on how things are set up, only can go by what information you post, if you cant post the information, I cant accurately help you. I dont mind helping out but you have to be able to give me the proper information, or its simply a guess..look at this as if I were asking you and you couldnt tell me what it weighs etc, hard to help without the information.
If all you want is differnt set ups, theres a bunch listed in the tech pages. Try looking there, that will keep ya busy changing stuff out till you find something you like better.

here's a little more info. helix is guess is a 51/47, 5.7g tip (without the .8g whasher), and the center rivet is steel and is the same width as the 8dn-10 weight that I currently have. I'm not going to drill out the rivet to find the weight, as i don't have more to install. mrviper, don't you have a great trail setup for me off the top of your head? I thought you would, seeing as you play around with vipers alot. I know there are more setups in the tech pages, but i don't have deep wallets to keep purchasing parts, that might not fix the problem, or create a setup that I like. I don't want to spend $500 when I could spend $200 for a good setup, that others had good luck with, and be done.
