I ran my 1997 500 in 1000' today and after a few clutching adjustments it did 91 mph, does anyone know of a decent speed it should run or am I close to as fast as it should go?

We measured out 1000' on ice track, we used a radar gun and ran 5 times, all were at 91-92mph, It is a full bodied stock sled, we just did some clutching changes and suspension adjustments, next weekend we are going to shoot for 95-100 mph, we are going to get serious about it this time.

wolly:
just clicked on it & works for me??

the only way to find out is go & race. 91-92 mph in trail stock will be right up front if not 1st.

I am going to see how we do this weekend testing, I will update as we go. R.J.

Is this on snow or ice? The reason I ask is two years ago I went to a 500' snow drag here in northern Michigan, Before they ran the drags they had a radar gun set up on another 500' snow track. For $20.00 we got to make 3 runs. First run was with my drag setup & crap, It was a slow mph vers some that ran. So against my better judgment I tightened my secondary to 70 twist & second run I picked up something like 7-8 mph. Figure to myself I was on to something so I tightened my secondary to 120 with the Yami Silver spring & ran close to 12-14 mph faster than my first run. Now I was feeling much better about myself & my tuning ability so I figured I would run the first round with the tight secondary & mph them on the big end. Guess what? In 500' there is no big end & got stomped bad. So now if its drag I run my secondary as loose as possible because it's all about the upshift & 800'+ solo speed run I tighten that secondary as tight as I can get it holding the clutches back getting it to mph. Speed run vers other sleds is more like a trail setup because quick is needed along with mph to keep ahead & depending on snow condition which is huge I'll run 60 twist.

Give it a try & you too can pickup some big mph on the gun....... Just dont try & drag race it setup like that ;)

I had my secondary set at 110, 82mph was top speed, I then went down a lower number and gained, then changed helix and gained more, when I was drag racing I would keep the wrap tight for a hard launch out of the hole and it would also work the motor to it fullest to get the most hp to the ground, but, every sled is different.

I should have mentioned I was running a Hauck Roller also & there alone could be the different settings. Have fun with it because that is what matters most :)

that's good if it's a 500cc full bodied trail stock machine. click on the link below. they don't list a 500cc class but the record in 600 is 98 mph.
how did you record the speed?
