Reed Notch Mod

This is my first post,I just recently registered but I've been on the site for years.Will the Reed Notch Mod work on a 1999 v-max500sx?
If so what should I expect? Slight horsepower increase? Throttle response? What about fuel consumption? Do I need to change jets or does this mod just work on its own? Any suggestions on any other simple mods.Any answers would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!!!!!

i did it to a 2001 sx500r. made the sled easyer to start and improved the throttle response. fuel milage and hp was unaffected; damnit. just make shure you radius the corners where you grind it out. square corners crack more easily.
