I have heard certain old Exciter engines refered to as a 433 "SS". What is the difference and what years or models had it?
Thanks, Jon

Ss433
The SS433 motor was used in all Exciter 440's and was made from 1976-81. It had reed induction & CDI and was rated @ 48 HP. There were some changes made over the years-the cylinders and clutch were changed after '76; the carb was changed after '77 and the cdi boxes were changed a few times.
They made another reed induction 433 called the S433 which was used in the '74-'77 GP433/440. This motor had points & condenser ignition and was rated @ 40 HP. It had the old style clutch although it had aluminum sheaves.
Sno-Jet also used the SS433 in the 1976-77 SST.

Thank you.
Its just that you see 9 exciters and then the 10th one the owner says it is a 440 SS like its special. Now I know. Thanks.
