I have a play back Tach and its right in front of my face as I race it. I'm gonna try re-gearing it to 16-33. Are the drivers on a SRX 8 tooth? So the 9 tooth calculation for speed would be off.

8 tooth on yours, your right, that would be 20.16 SC
its been a LONG time since my srx440 days........they have not came with 8 tooth drivers unless a mtn sled since 1981 I think......LOL
my old 81 srx has the 9 tooths

YES 8 TOOTH DRIVERS ON 79 SRX. 16-33 IS A 2.063 RATIO. THAT BE GOOD TEST TO SEE IF YOUR MPH CHANGES ! 3:16 (yammie tony)

What Arctic cat seconday did you use and what machining had to be done to get the secondary to work?
Today I had time to play with the sled. I left the gears and every thing the same. It engages at 5500 runs to 8000 hesitates then shifts to 9200.? Any clue whats creating the hesitation at 8000. Its like it needs to build up more torque then shifts quickly to 9200.

YOU HAVE ANOTHER SPRING YOU CAN TRY IN YOUR SECONDARY. 3:16 (yammie tony)

put more tension in the rear clutch with more twist and see what it does
What exactly does twisting the secondary do. Does it make it tighter so that it does not shift out so fast. This allows it to rev out more then. Also thanx for all the help.

YOU CAN TRY MORE SECONDARY TWIST, BUT YOUR RPM IS GONNA CLIMB. 3:16 (yammie tony)

by tightning up the secondary it may over rev but if it doesnt drop the rpm in the middle then you know its secondary related, worn out spring or wrong helix angle
When I wrap the secondary, example given 180 degrees is a half turn right

YOUR GONNA MAKE MATTERS WORSE INCRESEING YOUR TWIST. YOUR ALREADY RUNNING 200 HIGH. POWER BAND IS 8800-9000. JUST SO I KNOW, WHAT CARBS YOU HAVE HERE. ALSO EVER THINK YOU MIGHT HAVE INGINTION BREAKING DOWN SLIGHTLY. MAYBE COIL ACTING UP. 3:16 (yammie tony)
I'm running the stock 36 with filters no power jets. Never thought of the coils how would I test the coils? Also would there be any improvement by switching to 38 mm carbs? I changed the gearing today but its to muddy to run it. However on the stand it seems to mph better but the 8000 rpm stall is still there!

YOUR FEELING THAT STALL ON A JACK STAND ? AND YES .38mm WORK GREAT. 3:16 (yammie tony)
Yes
and with the 38's any idea on jetting? Should'nt be much different than the 36's theres only 1mm difference in venturi.
By the way what main and pilot jet where you using in yer srx with the power jet plugged.

I RAN 39.5 ON ONE OF MY 79 SRX,s THAT WERE NOT POWERJETS IN THE WINTER WITH 380 MAIN AND A 40 PILOT. OF CORSE ON GRASS YOU CAN DROP MORE. 78-79 SRX,s WERE VERY UNDER CARBERATED. REMEMBER THEY WERE DETUNED SOMEWHAT. THEY RESPOND NICE TO BIGGER CARBS.
YOU HAVE ANY OTHER COILS YOU CAN TRY THERE, I AM TAKING EXTERNAL COIL AND PLUG ENDS. ALSO WHAT OCTANE GAS YOU USEING HERE. I CAN SEE THAT SLED DOING THIS UNDER LOAD BUT ON A JACK STAND ? 3:16 (yammie tony)

I have another coil. 93 octane pump gas
130 psi a cylinder compression
U remember the needle and needle jet size on the 39.5's

YOU HAVE ACESS TO ANY RACE GAS. IF SO, PREMIX SOME WITH THAT 93. ALSO THROW THAT COIL ON FOR SHITS AND GIGGLES AND SEE IF THERE IS A DEFFERENCE. I BELIEVE I RAN WHAT EVER COME IN A 38 FOR NEEDLES AND BRASS. BUT I CAN LOOK FOR YA TO BE SHURE 3:16 (yammie tony)
130 psi good, i always liked to see 140. BUT THATS DEFFERENCE IN GAUAGE.
