Hi i just bought my son his first sled,a 94 vmax 600 with 3100 miles on it for 1000.00.Its totally stock and has been sitting outside under a cover for a while-needs a good cleaning.How is this sled:engine,suspesion-is there any known problems i should look for?It seems to be in pretty good shape,started on the first pull!I thought i heard that the 600 twin was very reliable,is this true?
 
I've had very good luck with both of my V-max 600's ('94 Wife's and '95 Mine) and my Mom liked my 600 so well she bought one for herself this season. They are great runners. They have a tendency to guzzle gas faster than some other sleds, but my Dad has 2 V-max 4's that do much worse, so I don't feel so bad.

The only thing you may want to check for performance is that the OEM setting on some of the '94 sleds was set too high causing a rich condition at low RPM. That being said, they can foul plugs pretty quickly if you let them idle too long.
 
Thanks for the response,So i should jet it down a little is what your saying?I can try to lean out the mixture screws too i guess.
 
Yeah, the '95 500's and 600's had a pretty good clutch set up factory. I've talked to a few owners of that era sled, and they're thrilled with the reliability of them.

Bad points:
Poopy track from the factory, no traction in snow.
Poopy steel skis, but they can be helped with SkiSavers www.bergstromskegs.com for about $15.
Make sure your skis sit close to level when on a flat surface, if they're too far forward they'll dart all over the place and wear out your bars too soon.
Other than that, they're a pretty good trail sled. You got a good price too I think!
