Hi folks,
Newbie here so forgive me if this is not the right forum for posting this. I just bought a 99 Vmax 700 Dlx (w/ Elect. start and reverse). The sled has 600 clean original miles on it (I paid $1700 for it-I think I stole it!). The tach is not working however all the other gauges and the lights are working as they should be. Any thoughts on where to start troubleshooting this? Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have a battery in it? The tach will not work in the electric start sleds with out the battery. Do you ever play on Wamplers? My inlaws live on Iron and I buzz over there on occasion.

yup i know on my wifes '01 DLX the tack and fuel gauge will not work
with a low batt OR no batt.
is the batt good?

Hey Guys thanks for the tip. I pulled the old battery out and have a new one that is just finishing up on the charge. I will place it and let you know. Jwied I live on Loch Erin so I tend to stay over in that area. Any good trails up that way?? I gotta pull the carbs on this sled as they need a good cleaning. Kinda nervous about doing it but I printed out the doc for cleaning the carbs and it almost makes it idiot proof... Thanks again and I will let you know.

No trails. But there is usually some ice dragging going on on saturdays. The carbs are pretty easy.
