Added another one to the stable

I think i'm going to change my user name to srxjunky. This one makes 3 srx's now 2001, 2000, and a 1999. My neibour came by the other night and said that he wants to sell his sled (older guy around 60) he says that hes getting out of snowmobiling and wants to buy a new 4 wheeler because the one he has now will not start in the cold. He said that it was a 2002, when i get there the first thing i looked for was the DCS but it was not there so i new right away it was not a 2002 so we went into the house to look at the ownership and i find out it is a 2000. I told him i would have to think about it overnight. As i walk out the door he whispers to me (So his wife does not hear) a deal i could not refuse. The front end is all chrome, 192 studs and not a scatch on it. the rest is stock. This one i will be making into a lake racer and will be selling my old 1999.

its also got a black wind fairing, i think thats what it's called and the 2 extra smaller strobes in the middle of the hood like the '01
 
the decals on an 2000 have a black outline. also the 2000 has a large powervalve sticker near the front of sled on the side.

You guys got me really thinking now, I wish i new the history. The ownership says that it is a 2000. It has the thumb and hand warmer seperate controls, which i thought only came on 2001 and 2002. I'm thinking it might have been a late build in 2000 because the SRX's in Canada are i bit different like the shocks. Or is was in a accident and they used parts from a 2001. Or they painted the tunnel silver to match the chrome front end. looking at my 2001 the hoods look the same

I just got these off Yamahas site. The first one is an 01 and the second one is an 02. The SRX in silver letters is 02, 01's have blue SRX lettering.

That's a 2001 with only the "SRX" decal changed to the '02 decal,the rest
of the decal's are right,(2001),also the seat is wrong, there's no blue on the side of it.

somone's been play'en with it..
 
Im going to try and hunt down the orginal owner and see what he has done. I don't think it is a 2002 SRX decal because if you look at the pic that Yama49601 posted there is a outline at the beginning of the S and mine does not have it and it doesn't look as blue as my 2001 decal. Could it be a 2000 SRX decal by chance?
 
Hmmm, now i'm puzzled, i just spent 5 min's looking at my '99 to '02 book's
and comparing them to your pic..... NONE of them match up....

i'm wondering could it be aftermarket??
 
Hi Guys i have been in the garage cleaning the power valves, and going over the sled and looking closer the rear has been painted silver, i can see where they have taped off, and the bolts have paint on them. Some one went through alot of trouble to make this look like a 2001. Either the hood was totaled and they found a 2001 hood or they changed the decals. When i look close at the SRX on the side of the hood its blue just like 01 decals.
 
Well i tried to crop hopfully it works, the pics are dark and going around the SRX it looks black, in the orginals the pics are bigger and you can tell that it is blue.
