Providing That Your Motor And Clutching Is Stock Like You Present It To Be, I Agree With Jroc-vmax700 On The Revs. If It Is Not Pulling The Revs It Might Be A Maintainence Issue With The Clutch...sliders, Bushings, Cleanliness. Take It Apart If You Have Around 5 Or 6 Thousand Miles On The Sled. The Spark Plug Wires And Boots Start To Go Bad Around 8000, Yours Might Be Premature. Providing Everthing Checks Out With The Carbs And Electrical I Would Re-jet. Install 142.5 Mains, 1 Turn Out On Fuel Screw, Stock 45 Pilots, 2.5 On Needle Clips. It Worked Very On Mine When The Motor Was Stock. You'll Never Have To Mess With The Jetting Again If You Keep The Motor Stock.
Motor is stock Clutches gone thru about 400 miles ago.Sled has 5000 miles on it .

Mine was done at the dealer cause he sold it to me like that, but Im guessing you test its internal resistance with an ohm meter. You should be able to find the specs somewhere, like a shop manuel for your sled. Go ask someone at a yamaha dealer about it. Good luck
Well checked the sparkplug caps and found two bad ones. Changed all three and went for a ride. Sled ran like a just like it used too when I got it 7000kms ago.So nice to have the old redhead back!
Thanx to all for the help.
