How hot should the primary clutch be on a SXR 600. We were riding yesterday in snow that was like sugar. About 12" deep and all cross country riding and ditch banging 55 miles in total.. The wife said that she could smell something but I could't ( my sniffer is not the greatest) I checked the clutch and the primary was really hot not burning hot but good and hot. If there was some snow getting through the vents and hitting the belts would minor slipping heat them up like that. That is what I am thinking was happening but she probably didn't notice.
I always give her crap about easing into the throttle to lightly. I tell her to hit the flipper and get it moving and then back off a little. I know the first time she gets stuck , she is going to smoke a belt right away. She still thinks that if she hits it like that the sled is going to take off like a rocket ship out from under her. I keep saying it is only a 600cc not 600 HP. I know in the back of my mind that she is thinking that if I hit the FLIPPER I could probably drive right over him before he gets a chance to move. I always keep one eye on her just in case.
