grease the helix bushing?

Well if it doesn't really prolong the life of the bushing or the weights/rollers I'm just not gonna use it on there. I really don't like the idea of having the stuff on the clutches anyway for the reason you mentioned, it getting all over everything and stuff getting dirty. I do use the moly grease on the splines of the secondary/jackshaft though. It was always dry before I got this sled and it looked like it needed some grease so I used it on there. I don't know if it does any good or not though.

for a hundred years i been using comet clutch spray,it's like a graphite
type spray, i hit all pins and bushings, rollers in the clutch,it leaves a dry film that's durable and wont wear off for a wile.

Moly grease is a great grease to use for things that "slide" to prevent wear

i could see putting just a very thin coat on the helix for the buttons to slid
on, i've read that too before.

OH really now, moly grease is dry film is it?????????

i've never used any type of grease Yama49601 like i said i use that comet
clutch spray, sprays on and dry's very fast, good stuff.

I made the mistake of using some clutch lube(oil) ONCE and it enabled the dust and other particles to collect and chew my helix bushing up.All of the teflon on the bushing was gone and the cam would stick to the point that I'd have to stop and shove the secondary together so it'd be in a ratio low enough to move the sled at low speed.Dry graphite spray in theory should be good stuff to use but like Don says I'd definitely stay away from any grease or oils on the clutches.

I used to lube with (gasp!) Polaris clutch lube but have not done that at all with the Vmax Rage. About 5,000 miles later and everything is honky dorey. I won't be adding anything to the new sled either.

With exception to the internal helix bushing....ALL CLUTCH BUSHINGS ARE MADE TO RUN DRY> Like Mr.viper said the ramp buttons are graphite impregnated plastic, TO RUN DRY. The hole in your primary bushings that your weights roll against, has a bushing made of a material called Ryertex, AND MAKE TO RUN WITHOUT LUBE OF ANY KIND

I guess I should have put in the subject that I wasn't talking about the 3 helix "buttons". I know those are NOT supposed to use any lube. The helix bushing in the center that rides on the shaft is the one that I was asking about. JohnnyQuest, apparently that's the one you're saying is designed to be ran greased or lubed? That's the one they show in the book that should be greased (it's the only one in the secondary that shows it's supposed to be greased).
