why does you recommend that i use amsoil lube in my viper mtn? i will clean the powervalves everytime i get a chance. they have to be clean a few times a winter. i think i will just run the regular oil because that is the only oil we have here in town and yamalube is at the dealership and this is a fly in only community. any recommendations when running regular 2 stroke oil in my 04 viper mtn?

daman, 3-4 guys of our group use to run it and all had problems.. switched to klotz and have been good since. independant tests that have been done show that it runs away from a heat source, unlike klotz. and the ash contents arent as good which then doesnt bond as well...

guy's could have had with the oil,Amsoil is one of the top of the line oil's
very good quality, no sled is going to blow up using the stuff, i've switched
every one of mine over to it and been happy as he11 with it..
any JASO rated 2smoker oil is going to be low ash
but anyway not trying to start anything here, just wondering that's all.

I'm in the same boat as you, living in a remote community. I too am wanting to switch to an oil that I can buy locally. I really don't think it matters as long as you keep up with your maint. if you start to see things out of the ordinary or start cleaning powervalves daily then try another brand. This oil topic is pretty hot and many stick with what they know. My idea is to find a local with the same sled and ask.

I ran klotz and personally think it is a good oil, but had a lot of stuck powervalves with it. amsoil now and no more problems yet. my pv are a bit worn though, may be a contributing factor I guess...... I also ran yamalube for a LONG time and never stuck a valve and had no issues. run what ya like. if you have problems switch brands and try for yourself. nothing will convince you like a stuck powervalve that your oil isnt any good

I would try Klotz sure but it's hard as he11 to find it around here and if you
can find it it's CRAZY money, i can't see it being any better then Amsoil, i
can get Ams for $26ish gal. to my door, hell of a good price for a good oil..
but like 03 said use what you think is best and stick with it..

Ran Klotz since the 70's with very good results then, because a friend sold Amsoil ($31.00) I switched with no problems. My Next door neighbor now sells Blue Marble ($26.50) so, I switched all 5 of my sleds and all I can say is wow..... the Least amount of smoke I have Ever seen from a 2 stroke, very low smell with no problems so far.... ! The older I get the more I dislike the smell and smoke of the 2 strokes.
Im an Amsoil dealer and the interceptor has been great in my 3 yamahas also converted alot of people with 0 complaints burns clean and leaves powervalves very clean

i don''t know if any your stuff is syn.??
Yamalube will work, never heard of any sleds blowing up from using it..
I got back sunday and I have been SICK AS A DOG since!!!! My wife came down with it this morning and we are fighting for the bottle of nyquil!! Without starting a riot,,lets just say that ANY SYNTHETIC oil lubricates better than CONVENTIONAL oils do!!! if you put 10,000 miles a year on your sled and sell it after 2 or 3 years,,, synthetic oil IS A WASTE OF MONEY (it was pointed out to me by someone on this website last year) but,, if you do the "average mileage" and keep your sled for a bunch of years,,,,, synthetic oils are a MUST!!!! You guys can KEEP YOUR PISSING match of which oil works better,,, but,,,, keep with synthetics,,,, you'll never lose!!!!
As far as your original question,,, YAMALUBE CHANGE TO KLOTZ???? Yes,,,, change to KLOTZ!!!!! good idea!!!!!
Have put over 10000 mi. on 83 Vmax&84 phazer and well over 5000 on two 86 Vmaxs all Yamalube with NO engine failers or teardowns. Have good luck iguess???? Still use Yamalube to this day. Have had several Yamis prior to and after, only eng. failers i have had are self inflicted, you all know about that. gotta get a little more out it.
