I had a melt down on the center cylinder and lost the cylinder and piston, and have ordered a cyl. My question is if i should just replace the piston and rings in the bad one and move on , or do a wiseco kit and replace all three. The other cyls look good and 120 compression( the bad had 85lbs). Any advice ??
I believe carbs were the cause and plan a thorough cleaning
Thanks Rick

I would do all three if it were me, but it is up to you in the end. I like Wiseco pistons, used them for MANY years in MANY aplications seems like a lot of people on this site are OEM parts happy.

There doesnt seem to be a huge difference in price. I would just like to end up with a balanced set and wondered if just replacing 1 would cause problems. I too have used the wiseco kits with success. by doing just one it only saves about $75

if your putting OEM parts back in then it should be fine, meaning not out of balance. Besides the motor isn't balanced from the factory anyways. But I do understand what you are saying. "IF" you want to freshen up the other two holes you can, so that down the road if you have a failure in the other two cylinders due to having more use time on them. Remember tough, the other two cylinders will need to be honed with a DIAMOND hone as a regular stone hone will hardly scratch the surface. <- This info is for OEM parts.
If you run wisecos you will need to run larger bore tolerances(to eliminate seizing problems so I have been told) for those forged pistons because they grow at such a high rate. Another thought is alot of people on this site say that the wisecos don't live as long as the OEM pistons. T

I would assume that a wiseco standard kit would be sized for any piston expansion to eliminate possibility for seizing.Otherwize they would experience many callbacks.
Is there any other way i could prep the other cylinder bores other than a diamond hone..i dont have those stones. I think i read someone using 600 paper and then washing them out?

That sir I don't know.... Do you have a local shop that does motor work or small engine repair? they might be able to help you out with the hone and cost minimally. Just a thought.
