Hi.
Is there any difference in cooling capacity between the footstep heat exchangers on a SXR 700 and a SRX 700?

I do believe the SRX cooler is wider, more fins, coolant, thus yes cools better.

Ok. I haven't compared them myself that's why I'm asking.
Does the advantage of the SRX coolers justify a change?
My sled puts out 158 bhp, that's like a 40% power increase and for some reason the former owner hasn't upgraded the cooling system.
I've alredy decided to upgrade the cooling system with a SRX rear cooler but then I started to think, is it enough?
Is there any disadvantage with running a large cooling-system without thermostat? Besides that it takes more time to reach operating temp. Will I reach high enough temperatures for my engine (steel bore) not to be damaged?

If you got the SRX cooler in back thats a pretty good up grade, you should
be good to go, BUT...keep an eye on temps and if nothing else put the
bigger rail coolers on...easy job..

if it's a bender 800 it's closer to 168 hp. yes you shold have more cooling. try the srx rear xchanger first. if not enough bender sells a tunnel cooling kit which plumbs into your existing system. you remove the tunnel protectors & put these in their place. you can order them from micke.

I think I'd rather go with SRX footstep coolers if the rear cooler isn't enough since Bender parts seem to be very expensive here in Sweden. The head gaskets for my engine were more than $100 a piece. But what can I do? He seems to have a monopoly on the sale of Bender parts over here.
I've e-mailed a sled scrapyard to check how much I should pay for a used SRX cooler.

We don't always have good snow conditions since I live at the coast but I'll try with only upgrading the rear cooler as a start. (Might buy all three at the same time if I get a good price though.) Then, if the cooling isn't satisfying, I'll put the rail coolers on just as you wrote.

I had the same problem. Mine keep running hot. So I put the srx coolers on the side. Has the sx cooler in the rear. The only problem is the srx cooler has bigger hoses so you need to do a little adapting in the front. The rear you can compress the larger srx hose down.
I have a schematic at home that shows the difference. Its in the tech manual. I think I remeber that there are more paths and fins.

What year is your 700, there are several changes over the years, the later front cooler has more capacity also, I would put the srx sides and rear on it, too bad you're so far away, I have them all in a junk tunnel out back.

It's built on a 99 SX600 chassi. I don't know if the front cooler has been changed. Too bad there's a quite big pool of water and a lot more between us.

What's a fair price for them three SRX coolers including hoses?

Anyone know the SRX rail cooler measurements or how much coolant each cooler can hold?

I've bougt the rear cooler and the two footrest coolers. I've only assembled the rear cooler so far, pretty easy job. If it's possible to ride with this setup I'll do it this season. Then I'll install the footrest coolers during "off-season". I'll to do some testing when I get my gaskets and the engine put together.
