i think i have a problem with my motor

I was up in mercer this last weekend and the sled was running great keepping up with the bigger boy ski doo new bad boy 800r. But anyways on the last day we lined up to drag and going across tank lake i could not get over 8000rpms and it would start backfireing and missing did not sound very good at all. Which the mustard bucket beat me. I hate loosen to other sleds other than yammys. I had the carbs off before i went up and everything was in working order. took it across lake wabessa ran better than it has all year. just wandering if anyone would have an idea. I have not done anything with the motor yet just getting ideas to see where i sit. thanks

Sounds like you dropped a cylinder, have you checked the plugs or done a compression test?

Yea see what the plugs look like u might of been to lean and droped a cly..

Check coil's,wire's,plug boots, may have somthing missfireing or bad,
use a ohm meter find your spec's(search) and do some testing..then go
from there...

I had something like this happen to my 1980 exciter one of the oil injector lines dry rotted out and I had a hole burn through the piston.
