Hi guys,
I am in the process of what started out as quick ring replacement/head gasket mod, but turned into a complete rebuild. When I got her apart, I found that all the plating was worn off one cylendar just below the intake port, and this had done a number on the piston. The other cylendar had a few pits in the plating, so I got replated cylendars and new pistons. The head gasket didn't look too good, so I ordered one from a 95 600. (I read on some other threads that it was the same as taking out the center layer in a stock gasket for my sled) I measured the thickness with my calipers and it is in fact the same thickness as the two outer layers of my old gasket.
Now my question, (finally), the coolant pasages on the gasketfor th 95 are completely open, while the pasages on the gasket for the 97 are restricted to two small holes in the gasket. Will the 95 gasket work correctly in my 97 motor? Will I have temperature problems?
I am hoping to put this together this afternoon, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Mike
