76/77 srx piston argument (TONY HELP)

Dean, I believe you ended up with the useless pistons. Could you post pictures here of them? top, side and underside. It's got my curiosity up.

Now that you bought those pistons on ebay, you can see what they are supose to look like with flat rings. I know they are right because I talked to the guy that sold them to ya. These are the true 2280 woesco pistons for the 76/77 srx. Compare them. BIG difference.... Dean

Just got off the phone with Wiseco... Could not find anyone in the TECHNICAL department named Al???? No one has any information about pistons made 25+ years ago. Wiseco swithed the 2280 piston to number 2222 in the late seventies. No one knows anything about them. That is what Wiseco knows... HERE ARE THE FACTS THAT I KNOW... When Wiseco stopped making 2222 pistons 7 or 8 years ago they sold all they had in the US. I called Wiseco direct in Canada. They had some sets left. I bought every 76-77 SRX 340 and 440 piston they had. (around 12-15 sets) There were some boxes marked 2280 and some marked 2222. I called them up and asked what a 2280 was. They said 2280 was the old number for 2222. (which we know is true by the old catalog) The pistons came directly from Wiseco , were in 2222 boxes and have 2222 cast on the inside. They all mic out as standard bore SRX 440 pistons. What more can i say. I have used some sets like you have . Have had no problems. I am not a racer, i am a collector. I know the sled runs fine. Has not blow up. Dean, just like when you were unhappy with the track, you got a full refund right away. I will not refund your money when you take 2 months to play with the pistons or wait till you found what you really wanted. Plain and simple, you waited to long. Ebay and Paypal will not do anything for you because you waited over their 45 day limit to file a claim. You know that is true. I ship 300 or so packages of Yamaha snowmobile parts a year. I have had 3 problems in the last 8-9 years. I am not out to rip people off. I make a good living and do not need the money. I sell SRX parts because i love the sleds and have collected way to many parts and sleds over the years. I will meet you half way on this. I will exchange either set of pistons you bought from me for the set i won on Ebay the other night. Jeff Wurl

WELL WHILE WOULD YOU SELL A MOTOR PART TO A GUY THAT HAS RACED THESE SLED FOR THIRTY FIVE YEARS AND KNOWS WHAT WORKS FOR HIGH PERFORMANCE USE AND WHAT DOSE NOT. I'll send the first two that I bought from you on Ebay back and trade them for the ones you got on Ebay the other day. Weisco in US 1-800-321-1364. Ask for Al in the tech dept,he's the one that told me about the L rings and that they still make them with flat rings 76/77.. The sales Department says they make 10 at a time for the 76/77 srx with the small wrist pins. You can't buy them from Wiesco. You have to go buy them from Aaen Performance. I just ordered two last night. 1-262-552-8981. Part # M06850. $153.43 each. Oh by the way it was only 45 days when I informed Ebay. They are still looking at everything. But If you want I'll make the trade and quit this. The ones you got from Ebay are different then the ones you gave me. Correct? The crown of the heads are not cut out. This makes a big difference and holds the flat rings in place. I still think they made different series and tryed different stuff on the 2222 piston castings. I'll ship the first two back Thursday. I'll send the first two pistons that I got from you with the flat rings back for exchange for the other ones you got from Ebay and I'll put another feed back with +++ on Ebay. Wiesco called me back last night after I went home. The guys name is Al. Phone number 1-800-321-1363 EXT 3105. He is pretty knowledgeable about the 76/77 srx and SL, GPX pistons and rings that they made. So here it is if anyone wanted to know more or had other questions about old stuff. Dean
