Phazer II Risers

Hi all - 1st post.

I just bought 2 Phazer II LT's with the 136" skid that I am using for playsleds around our place. Didn't realize that they are this much fun!

Anyway - I have to get at least a 4" riser on these things for me and my daughter, and change the handlebars to something with an upward curve. My thoughts are to get rid of the light pod, and just side mount a couple of smaller LED lights on the hood or the bars?

Anyone done anything like this. I would love to see a picture of what a good job looks like before I tear into it.

BTW - I really don't need the pod. No real trail riding - just boondocking. Plus - I wouldn't mind a litle more light out of it.
 
The fairing helps to keep the hands warm unless that doesn't matter to you. The windshield and fairing can be removed and the headlight remain. A higher wattage bulb will give more light, and if you go that route check to see that the reflector is clean and in good shape.

I do not know of a riser block made for the early Phazer, you would have to see if you could adapt one or make one. Some of the early sleds like Cat's and JD's and possibly Polaris's used some high rise handlebars. If they would work, the bars might be high enough without a riser block. The trailing arm Yamaha's bars have about a 4 or 5 inch rise. If you do a search here, you should find info on longer cables.
 
The bolt pattern for stem is the same as the newer sleds. Any riser block that fits a late 90's/early 00's will fit on the phazer pattern wise. No clue as to extending the cables, brake, wires etc...

My wifes broke this weekend right at the base of the T lucky the sled was close to home and I used the faring to steer it back into the garage to weld it back up.
 
I don't know what sizes are available or anything but you can fit a 3" riser in there without extending the cables and just stretching them all really far. Dont know if its a good idea or not. I put a two in riser in mine and no problems so far. Definitely better than stock and I didn't want to mess around with extending anything.
 
bigman if you look in the exciter revived thread a few posts down you'll see what i did with my setup on the exciter which is similar. i completely ditched the stock handlebars and put some dirtbike handle bars on and made my own riser. i only had to extend the throttle cable, i used the powermadd extension for a cat, and with a few small mods it worked just fine.
 
i put a 2" riser on my 1989 Bravo Lt, so it should work. You can make your own riser to, get a solid piece of aluminum or steel, mark off where the bolts go through with the stock clamps, and drill press them right through. It may be hard to do this if you want a 4" rise, put its possible, and then go to your local hardware store an get some longer bolts. Or just buy a Rox Pivot Riser, they come in a 2", 3.5" and a 5".
 
I raised the bars on my old PhazerII 2 inches and the brake cable was maxed out to the point that on hard right turns it would lock up the track. Other than that it was a no problem.
