I changed my chaincase oil last weekend in my SRX, used Amsoil 15-40 synthetic.
ANYTHING SYNTHETIC will work just fine!!!

4000 miles with ATF, no signs of wear.
I used to run the suv full synthetic tranny fluid. I switched back to amsoil chaincase oil, and saw the same top speed #'s. just a bit of info. Maxdlx
03 viper, 19000 km's on amsoil ATF & still going...yes...19k's
Do you have to change it every year?
It's cheap insurance...three times a season...is what I do...cheerschadman said:Do you have to change it every year?

thats a waste of time. hell if tranny fluid protects our car's trannys for 3 yrs or what ever then I think it will protect a damn chain and gears for a season +.theblues said:It's cheap insurance...three times a season...is what I do...cheers

I like to go into the chaincase at least once at the begining of the season, then in the middle of the season, and sometimes before a big trip i will change the fluid.... plus it's nice to get any contaminants out even if you are not splitting the chaincase. That's my opinion

But if you get contaminants it should get caught by the magnet on the plug. Then if you get to much on the magnet you have another problem and changing the oil wont help.

Just drain out the oil.....put the hose from the grease gun in the dipstick hole....pump till full. ![Hide :hide: :hide:](https://totallyamaha.net/images/smilies/hide.gif)

I have used atf for ever, at least 10 plus years. I change it out once a year, have yet, ever, to see a failure from using it, it will be just fine in there. Its cheap, provides more then enough protection, is high detergent, doesnt become like mollasas when cold and it WORKS!!!
