The rear suspension is like riding on a brick. What suspension bolts in with no mods and works great?

That is a long travel skid. So nothing from Yamaha is going to "bolt" in and be much better.

Maybe the shocks need to be rebuilt. Search around there are a lot of threads that are related to this. m10-, expert x, mono shock, arctic cat skids, ski doo, and polaris skids have all been shoe horned in to this chassis..

Just had the shocks rebuilt at the start of the season. Didn't make much of a difference. I put adjustable transfer control rods also. That made a huge improvment in the fun factor. I was looking at the M10 but it is very expensive.

post some pics, maybe you have something bolted in backwards? or too much spring preload? I hear RX-1 skids bolt in, with either your old rear shaft or betheviper(i think) has longer shafts.

I just put a Artic cat zr skid in my 1995 Max, swap was pretty easy. Just need measurements from the the donor sled.

How hard was it to put the xtra-10 in? There all a lot available on ebay. Does it make a big deference in the ride?

I put a pro x in my warrior, and an edge skid wll work too. there are measurments on wwwjbshocks.com If you do thepro x drop the front hole 1 inch more than it says. Maxdlx

The Xtra10 is a big improvement. Over the long travel I'm not sure, but a better ride on my 95. Transfers weight better also. BTDT.
