I am replacing a cyl -piston -rings on a 2000 sx600r. The rings fit the piston in only one direction(oem parts) The ring has a thin chamfer on one the inside edge and the only way it fits on the piston freely is with the chamfer facing down..Can i assume this is correct? I searched but could not find anything specifying top or bottom when installing the rings... and could find no markings on the rings. Anyone have any info..APPRECIATED!

the ring should have some sort of manufacure marking,number,letter,etc..
that goes up.

if there oem yamaha rings should have a marking,i install them dark one
on top gold one on bottom, but i think it dose'nt matter..

i have a set of OEM rings right here with me, it has a "N" stamped..

oh and make sure your ring end gap is within.....

Could not find any markings but these things are small. I took the fried one off the bad piston and the chamfer was definitly down, besides thats the only way it fits right.
Good advice on the ring gap, i will check
