flashing light

I have a 2002 vmax deluxe and the temp light is flashing a code, it is one long and three shorts, and it just repeats this over and over. I looked in the tech pages and there is a chart of codes for the viper but nothing for a vmax. Anyone have any ideas?
 
Its not a code i aways see alot of temp wich goes bad and it will will just flash off and on.. as soon as u start it..
 
Shorting of the water temperature sensor is detected...

check to see if the plug is snaped on tight,check wiring for broke wire by
the plug, or sensor is bad....
 
The head sensor plug on these are know for breaking. There is a Yamaha bulletin out for this. Talk to your dealer. You can buy a new connector kit for $10ish. I think it's called a temp sensor conector.
