hey, well i just picked up a 1998 srx 700. sled runs great and everything works great on low bean but as soon as i switch to high beam headlights my headlight goes out or just flickers and my gauge light go out and my gauges stop working. if i am parked and on high beam and they are working they dim when i pull on the brake leverl. when riding on high beam they don't stay off they just flicker on and off but if i switch back to low beam everything works great. any ideas on what this could be? stator or a short maybe
wiring harness rubbed thru under engine

Wire is rubbing through somewhere.
stator will give your a miss and poor performance. Mine had a high end miss but ran fine down low. I replaced the stator and bingo works like new.

ya i have 575 posts but i have never owned an srx before and usually only read up on viper problems since thats basically what i usually own. i knew the vipers were notorious for wearing under the engine but i never knew there was a problem with the srx's. i didn't figure it was stator since it only did it on high beam but then again i got to thinking about what it did when i hit the brakes and i thought i remembered people saying that's what happened when stators were bad. well anyhow thanks for the help guys
