In the next few months im going to be tearing apart my 02 viper er and going to be building it up for an ice racer for next season, i curantly have bender pipes, clutch kit , v fore reeds and a few miner other things, i was wondering what would be better to go with just getting it Ported or going with the 780 Big Bore kit and what would get the most horspower because thats what i am trying to do
Thanks
Thanks

He will probably advise you to leave it a 700 but you've got the wrong pipes. On another note....will you sell me your reverse?

wrong pipes?

Certain pipes work better with Big Bore kits. I am thinking that is what MadMatt is referring to with the pipes.

do u know the H.P. on the 835 kit?bufalobob said:those pipes work great w/ bender 835 BB.

Always an exception
Yes, Bob, I'm sure they will work great with a Bender 835......my answer was based on him having a 700 race motor in which case CPR pipes are better as they are tighter. If he goes through the expense of an 835 from Bender then he can keep his pipes. How deep are his pockets?

i have not dynoed a 835 viper but i have dynoed my 835 srx @ dynotech - made 186 hp @ .70 bsfc ( 38mm carbs - case porting - vforce2 - stock timing - bender trail pipes ), according to jim if we had jetted it down would have been 190+ ( 120# cranking pressure & 2000 miles on motor ),more comp. & timing would be around 200 hp. . jim asked me to bring it back & do a cold weather pull so he can post the results on dynotech.com.
without case porting & 38 carbs would be around 178 hp.
i am just finishing my bender 800 sxr which will also go on the dyno. i will post results for all to see.
matt:
a 700 race motor is actually more expensive to build.

700 race motor is NOT more expensive to build then a $2500 big bore kit, you need to shop around...lol
you forgot to add the "reverse" on your list.

you forgot to add the "reverse" on your list.
Since we are talking about bender 835 big bore kit now, lets look at the catalog, it says right here in their own catalog that the case porting and 38mm carbs are worth 12-14hp gain, so you d be a bit less power there then what you claiming with stock timing, stock compression, reverse..lol, and pipes.
the dyno chart provided in the catalog for the viper is 180hp, all I am doing is looking at the catalog from bender........pg16.

a real 700 race motor - not a warmed over trail motor - ( mine was 191 hp @ 9750 rpm ) when you add the cost of a high rpm box ( if you can even find one ), race pipes, case porting, cylinder porting, carb boring, timing key & head work - it's a lot more expensive.
if you go to dynotechresearch.com under april '07 blog you will see the 186 hp.
when i redyno the 835 again & the 800 i will have jim also use his compression gauge & post the results along with the dyno sheets.
mr. viper, please post some of your dyno sheets for all of us to see & do a fair comparison of big bore hp #'s.
both have reverse.

you surely dont need a race cdi with a viper, plenty of timing in there stock. We are talking about vipers in this thread, not a srx! "he already has the pipes", your exact quote!
a 835 is not cheaper to build then a race 700 engine is, no way, you have been ripped off. There is always someone out there to take your $$ looks like you found the place to take it and give you the same thing you can get for alot less....LOL
Darcy Rosentrator built a 700 viper full race engine with custom built 10,200 pipes for $2500!!!!!!!! Darcy is one of the best engine builders around!
Lets get the facts straight Bob, I am simply reading this from your beloved bender catalog, pg 16, if you know more then bender does about its own products, you need to go next door and start answering the phone for them, I am sure the bussiness will pick up immensly with a great communicator like yourself helping others.
dont forget the reverse....lmao

my last post because there is no point in arguing when your clearly wrong with your statement of facts, again, I am just reading from your bible bob, I mean bender catalog:
1.) trail porting-$600,I will alot you
$725) In trail porting bender opens up the triple ports and buffs the main exh port smooth only, nothing else. So to go full race they would need to raise the main exh port, advance the booster and fill out the trnasfers, so I will give you another $125 for labor for something that takes a extra 10mins per cylinder. And this would be a rip off but I will play the price game with you here for the point being made.
2.) case porting-$495.00
3.) bored carbs _$250
total:$1345.00, race porting add a extra $125, $1470.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
$2500 big bore kit, - $1470.00 work from bender, leaves a $1030.00 surplus of cash!!!!!!
he already has the pipes, and the cdi box and the engine, looks like even having bender build him a viper engine he has alot of money to hit the track with left in his pocket, again pg 16 of your bible..
See this has nothing to do with me doing work, no where here have I posted anything like that, I have learned long ago, you get no where with it. Its your posted words bob contradicting your bibles words.
for further information see page 16 of the bender catalog. I rest my case and leave it in the hands of the jury.

both of those graphs are without case porting & 38mm carbs. just like i said 178 hp. add case porting & 38 carbs = 190+ hp - just like i got @ dynotech.
if you are building 700 race motors & use the stock viper cdi you are leaving hp on the table. bender uses a reprogramed box which adds to the cost of the package. also, 2002viperer has trail pipes - not race pipes which are more expensive. thusly a competitive IS700 race motor is more $$ than a big bore.
benders 835 also comes with a peak performance head with changable domes.
for some reason you feel the need to attack when i post to a thread. it's not necessary. as i said i will be going to the dyno in about 2 weeks. if you would like to come along & observe you are welcome to . you just may learn something.
