tps keeps failing (vmax 600 XTC)

I have a 98 vmax 600 xtc I replaced my tps last year and have about 600 miles on my sled since and now the tps is bad again before I keep replacing this $125 part every 600 miles does any one know what causes it to fail. I have a wiseco piston kit and a stiffer clutch spring other than that engine is stock. Thanks for any info! :confused:
 
i would say a rub-through or a short in one of the other parts. do not ask me whitch one because i have personally never had to chase one. some one else will chime in though with more knowlege.
 
No there's no code light I am having the same problem as before I replaced it (which fixed my problem) The problem was......if I let off the gas to take a corner or slowed down to cross a street, and then hit the throttle it would make a sound as if you hit the kill switch while still moving but it would never die completely. The rpms had to drop below exactly 2500 before it would go again. it was kind of like a govener you could throttle it as much as you wanted it would just make the bogging noise (while throttling it) it idled fine. it rode fine until you slowed down or maybe letoff the throttle im not sure this is more annoying than anything
 
I replaced the TPS and it was fine for 600 miles. I bypassed the TORS before I replaced it the first time with no difference and tried it again with the second failure with no difference. I checked the TPS with the procedure in the service manual....(I think I did it correctly) and I am pretty sure its bad. I also tried unplugging the TPS both times it went bad and it did the same thing as it did while hooked up (never tried unplugging it during the 600 miles after i replaced it the first time to see results)
 
what light would it trip? when I unplug it the water temp light flashes. I noticed the same colored wires coming out of the tps go into the CDI (far left plug) should I try a different CDI? those are $190 seems like alot of money to troubleshoot. The stealership told me it would be $76 for one hour of diagnosing the problem (might take 1.5 hours though)
 
For the TORS? Yeah, my TORS wires lead up to the throttle(handlebars). My TPS wires go to the CDI. Just came in from the barn and I looked through all the wires and connections and couldnt find anything wrong. I cant decide if I want to just by another TPS ($125) or take it to the dealer and pay $76 + parts. either way I have to buy the TPS but I'm wondering if something is causing these failures
 
I can scan ya a page outa my service book for testing your tps,you can do the test and it'll tell ya if it's bad or not..

but i'm riding most the day tommorow,if can i'll post it if not sunday i'll
get it on...if that will help..
