I've had both 98 and 99 as well as an 01 and I would definitely go with the 01'. never had the chance to check out the DCS on the 02's but I like the idea of the feature.
the apex seems to get damaged on slow speed inpacts, i hit a hole where the ice broke at a 45 degree angle at 10 mph and bent both a arms and cracked the bulkhead,(1200.00) ive also put it on its side coming over a plowed snowbank and broke the 400.00 headlight and the dash plastic, it seems great for groomed trails but ditch banging around where i live is killing it. i bought a 2001 srx today and rode it and it just seems more fun to ride, alot more stable

If I had to pick a year it would be 02, like the DCS idea......I also like the 04 viper'S but I have never ridden one. I think I will keep my little 600 for a long time
But I will have to get into the 4 strokes pretty soon....maybe a xtx we will see!!

I love everything about the new 4 strokes but I can hardly justify the cost for what I'm really gaining over the viper, especially when I hear about people switching back to a 2 stroke. If you're talking bang for the buck it's tough to beat a Viper, and even more so an SRX. Maybe I'll find a lightly damaged Attak GT cheap that I can fix up as a project..haha..I can keep dreaming right

I didnt like the dcs on my 02.On long lake runs it would flash all the time.I always ran premium fuel.I jetted it to the 01 specs and the dcs still flashed on long runs.I like the 2002 srx decals and the 2000 srx chassis with the blue tunnel and trailing arms.No dcs.

don't know why you were having trouble with the DCS.On my 02 SRX it is a non issue.I run premium gas also, have jetted to 01 specs and run HC's yet and I pin it all the time with no DCS flashing at me.
01. Looks the best (imo) and the DCS is a joke.

It only flashed while holding it wide open for long time, like a mile +

Which, should never be done................................unless, of coarse, you don't care about the motor in the first place. Just asking to blow up.

Did it all the time and the motor was fine.It Had great compression and ran awsome when i sold it.If your jetted correctly i cant see how it would hurt anything.

02 srx
I have 11,500 miles on my 02 SRX. After riding my buddies 06 Apex GT and a 08 FX Nytro RTX I have decided to run my SRX for atleast another year. Thats how much I like mine

Whats up guys, new to the site, thanks daman for reccomending this site, heard about, was just to lazy to join.... Finally a place where no polaris fans dare to come in and talk trash......
i love my 2001 srx, my buddy has a 99, i'm a bit heavier then he is and i take him off the line every time, but from there on the speed is pretty much the same.... My stud pattern really helps out of the hole.... studs are a must on a srx unless you plan on going nowhere.

2004 viper battery tray with Reverse, Electric Start, and Tripple Pipes
I love my 04 Viper. I put electric start and reverse on it. It has SLP tripple pipes, i custom made a battery tray and got a smaller battery. A little modifacation to the chain case and you are ready to go. Really not that hard. I can send pics of my battery mod under the hood if anyone wants to send me there e mail.

I AGREE ABOUT STUDS ON A SRX. I TOOK MY 2002 SRX OUT AS FARR AS I COULD WITH NO STUDS. JUST INSTALLED 192 MEGA- BITES. VERY DANGEROUS RUNNING A SNOWMOBILE THATS THAT FAST WITH NO STUDS. 3:16 (yammie tony)

studs are a must of these monsters, they help a ton getting you going and also help alot when you want to stop these heavy guys. i don't even know how many studs i have on mine, there are over an inch long, or just about an inch,,, i'll take some pics of my sled and put em on here.... its got LED lights running along side the hood.....nice touch.

From the first SRX to the last, they were all awesome!!! - I have a soft spot for the 01 and 02's and I own one of each - not a better sled ever built for smooth trails and back road running - the triple motor is like the best woman you have ever been with - smooth as silk and can't wait to jump on it again!!!!!!!
