plowing like a fisher

i know this has been talked about before but never got answers. i have an 01 mm 700 skid is in lower holes, and i have apex mountain skis on it front shocks are worn out, what can i replace them with to get some height back in the front end?

It isn't the skies! You know have too much ski pressure. Lenght'en out the front limiter straps. If you have done that, then get rid of the transfer rods and go to straps in the rear. This will uncouple the suspension and you will have all the front lift you want to dial in.
I have the same set of skies on a Mt. Viper with suspension in lower holes with the MPI straps (rear) and have to run my front straps about mid way to keep my skies on the ground. Doing so allows for a better attack angle on the track........it is great.
 
If you remove the transfer rods you will need anti-rachet drivers. I recommend doing this mod. Snomoguy got it right. You can use ski-doo drivers. They are about $50 each vs $80 or higher for wahl bros. While your deciding what your going to do make sure you have your tranfer rods adjusted right and your front limiter strap also.

I could tell you were a New Englander based on the title.
I used to live in Maine, and I never saw Fischer plows anywhere but the NE.
 
i do understand what you guys are saying about the transfer rods, but when the sled is just sitting still on the trail the bellypan is only acouple inches off the ground. is this normal? or should i put some longer shocks in to makeup for the clearance i lost by putting on the saddleless skis.ps in powder i love the skis they have great floatation when on the throttle.
 
That is pretty normal. There are some threads here about turning the shock mounts over and gaining about an 1" more lift, but for me I don't care what it looks like just sitting still in the snow.........what does it look like when you mass the gas........thats what counts. If it floats, you are good to go!
 
There are a few of us on here that run Viper shocks on our MMs. They are 1 5/8" taller. They are a tight fit but they do work. You will have readjust your toe in and camber. Do a search on here as there are a few threads on this subject here on this site. for deep powder, I run my straps as far out as I can and still have just enough ski pressure, I adjust my control rods out and run my full rate adjustment on the soft setting. Also, my skid in the upper hole( I think that is why your nose is point down so much). This brings my skis right up. Soc
 
yamaha actually makes a shock relocation bracket for ~20 buks ... i would check into those, consinderably cheaper than new shocks!
